The Golden State is drowning in budget shortfalls to the tune of $20 billion; Californians have done without pay increases, services and increased taxes, however, one sector of the states residents that havent suffered cuts are illegal aliens. While the DREAM Act may have languished at a national level, it is still on this weeks to do list for Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger. Californias very own Dream Act comes in the form of Senate Bill 1460 and Assembly Bill 1413 both were approved by the state legislature and are ready for Gov. Schwarzenegger's signature.
California AB 1413 and SB 1460 aka The Dream Act would divert financial aid away from legal California residents and give assistance to illegal aliens. Critics argue the new benefit will only offer more incentives to break the U.S. immigration law.
Early cost estimates of the Dream Act weigh in the neighborhood of $40 million. The bill calls for the state to provide benefits to assist illegal aliens who attend California colleges. Critics argue that this assistance will add to the estimated $90 million a year California taxpayers provide to give illegal aliens in-state tuition benefits... except for one thing- if illegals graduate college they still cannot not legally get a job under federal law.
The ramifications of a Gov. Schwarzenegger signature means taxpayers will have to add more money to cover the increase in budgetary expenditures. Some benefits illegal aliens would receive include taxpayer-funded grants and other assistance to offset increasing costs of colleges in California....

It’s easy to see why Cauliphonya wants to “legalize” recreational marijuana.
So "in for a penny, in for a pound" as the saying goes. What an irresponsible state California has become. Glad I left over a decade ago.
I just don’t get it.....I just don’t....
All the leaves are brown, and the sky is grey.
California dreamin’ on such a winter’s day.
“I just dont get it.....I just dont....”
Ohhhhhhh ... YOU WILL!
Head. About. To. Explode.
My sentiments exactly.
California illegal insanity ping!
Now I feel REALLY good about the latest public school teacher bailout where much of the money went to CA.
Dem Gov Martin O Malley tried that crap here and Republicans raised enough of a stink that democrats retreated on the issue.
More garbage CA cannot afford, all the while it comes begging to the rest of us to fork over the dough to pay its budget deficit.
No thanks, California.
You know it’s a little ridiculous for the states to have balanced budget amendments, yet all that happens when they overspend is they go to Washington for a bailout with tax money from the rest of us suckers.
We have got to get to the point where states PAY THEIR OWN WAY. This is the flip side of limited (federal) government.
But hey, he can WIN.
What good is this when dealing with a empty head?
“Dem Gov Martin O Malley tried that crap here and Republicans raised enough of a stink that democrats retreated on the issue.”
should be Blood and teeth on the floor for even thinking about educating these Hateful people, let Mexico take care of their schooling back there.
Don’t bail out California. Let them put their own finances in order. If they need to shut down the entire government to do so, then so be it. They’ll learn a lesson.
When you’re not paying the taxes, you don’t care if the State goes bust.
Is California really that bad? I have a buddy who used to live in Pomona as a kid. He said he went back there recently and didn’t recognize the place. He said California has turned into a dung heap and that he’ll never go back.
Just think of the jobs these enterprising yutes will create - NOT!
Stop living up to your screen name and snap out of it!
Put a fork in California. It’s finished.
I remember back when he and Michigan's Canadian-born governess were being touted as reasons to amend the Constitution.
Press 1 for English (!!), then 2 for legislation, then wait through a little recital until they say press 3 for SB 1460, then press 2 to oppose it.
The line is busy now, I tried to call again to talk to an apparatchik.
But keep trying. Burn up those lines. This becomes law if Arnie does nothing.
