Metro did not open early or run extra trains on August 30th for the Glenn Beck Rally, despite them knowing there were be crowded conditions. Yet they are announcing today opening early and running extra trains for the Oct 2nd union-sponsor rally.
From their website

To help get everyone to the rally, Metro will operate additional Blue Line trains between 7 and 11 a.m. and again from 4 to 8 p.m.
Crowded conditions are expected on all rail lines with the largest crowd expected on the Blue Line heading downtown from the Largo Town Center, Stadium-Armory and Pentagon Metrorail stations.

Part of the August calendar going backwards (August 30, 29...). Notice there is no mention of any additional trains on August 30th.

Metro is subsidized by the federal government and in just about all cases operates extra trains and extended hours for special events. One has to wonder why they are doing it for the US Communist Party and unions, but failed to do it for the Tea Party and Glenn Beck.
Find out who ordered this and expose them.
And get ready for wall to wall coverage on the networks and wide-angle half-page crowd photos on your morning newspaper and inspiring quotations up the ying yang.
Not to mention slobbering estimates of crowd size.
Oh they'll really put on a show.
In the end will it matter? No.
It says they paid extra.
They can run empty trains all they want. It won’t create more people. It does make a good union overtime scam though.
All the communists are gathering in one place. Hmmmmmm.
I’m sure this will be played up by the media propagandists as a impromptu gathering of like minds.
The organizers for Saturdays event have paid Metro in advance for the early opening and additional rail service.
This iis something I do not need to wnder about. Wonder why the sky is blue, why my daughter can sometimes make me cry just by something she tells me.
But not this, I know why.
Maybe they didn’t NEED extra trains because Beck’ event was on the 28th, not the 30th.
Slightly off topic, I will look for reports on the clean-up job afterwards, and how much garbage and trash will be left behind.
After the Glenn Beck rally, I heard a report that planners were pleasantly surprised at how clean it was afterwards, and how little was left behind from such a large crowd.
We’ll see. Obama’s inauguration was a huge crowd and a huge trash day. See if this latest rally is full of trash.
Maybe, but not very hard.
But of course. Who is surprised.
They pay extra but Metro is subsidized by the federal government. I’m sure it would be worth looking into how much was paid. I seriously doubt it covers the full costs.
Oops, you’re right about the date. Those of us who were down there on the 28th know they could have used extra trains and open early. Yet no one complained.
I was totally disgusted by the unsportsmanlike conduct, but I guess its par for the course in the dirty swamp city.
If Beck wanted the trains to run early, he should have done like these people and written a check to DC Metro.
You were there? I’m SOOOOO jealous. I really wanted to go, but traveling is getting difficult for me as I get older. Glad you got to see it!
Communist union metro workers.
Doncha know democrats get extra help in Obamaland.Heck guess we should be glad the whitehouse isn’t serving them boxed lunches.
