This is how out of touch these people are. He just thought it was going to be a walk in the park and people were going to embrace him because he was a part of the Obama administration.

Think again. This guy is directly responsible for where our healthcare system is going in the next few years. I hope Chicago does the right thing and does not vote him in as mayor.

I've been posting here for weeks that Rahm Emanuel would never be mayor of Chicago and that he wouldn't even run unless he was kamikaze.

First, he's too closely connected to the failing presidency of Barack Obama.

Next, he doesn't have the blessing of either the present Mayor or his machine. This means Rahm would have no access to the well-oiled, embedded ward organization necessary to win.

Third, Chicagoans are somewhat insular in that they don't want a carpetbagger perceived as being a D.C. operative coming in to try to grab the city's top spot. Plus, metaphorically-speaking, you need and "O'Something" in front of your name or a "ski" after it with a lot of favorite ethnics in between.

There are many other reasons, of course, working against a Rahm mayoralty including the "dead fish" stories which evoke latent mob and Capone chords in a lot of touchy Chicagoan psyches.

The heckling on the "speaking tour" Rahmbo made yesterday, plus the purposefully-neutral words from Mayor Daley when asked about endorsing him plus no endorsement from Valerie Jarrett does not bode well for Emanuel.

I'm still betting he won't file unless he's suicidal or there's some very strange reason he's throwing his hat into the ring.

There's no "primary" in this mayoral election. If no contender gets 51% of a "general" vote, there's a runoff. There's already a crowded field of hopefuls all testing the waters.

I wonder when the smelt run is in Lake Michigan. There'll be a need for a lot of dead fish to go around in the upcoming mayoral campaign.

It’d be best if he were stuck in IL, unable to return to DC to do more damage to the whole country.

I'd rather have him locked up in Guantanamo.

It gave him the cover to make a graceful exit from the White House rather than staying there for the midterm disaster and subsequently being fired.

People feel they were fooled and elected one unqualified politician to President, because the MSM told them it was the thing to do.

They don’t want to do it again with one of his underlings.

Yeah!

Boost a candidate there!

LOL!!! They just might throw DEAD FISH at him for a change. Just the thought of sending DEAD FISH to someone shows how THIRD WORLD Rahm is.

None of this matters.

The Chicago machine counts the votes.

Any questions?

I wouldn't be surprised if Rahm decides not to run

You know he is shocked at the animosity toward himself and Obama. Sitting up there in the WH, they forgot all about America. Now Rahm at least is about to get a wake-up call.

I'm lovin' it!

re “dirty secret ... blacks virulently racist”

You clearly are not in Chicago and ignorant of it. You should keep your ignorance to yourself.

The UnitedChurch of Christ/UnitedMethodist/ChicagoArchdioceseCatholic liberals (of which Wright and his church are just a small part) are not virulently racist. They are committed to a socialist ideology that is much more important to them than race. They haven’t decided yet between Rahm, City Clerk Miguel DelValle who has close ties to the UCC and their 4th generation trust funds, and others.

Likewise the non-ideological Democrats (Black, White, Hispanic) that are committed to corruption and patronage politics transcend race with their corruption. They havent decided yet between Tom Dart, one of their own, and Rahm and others. How much will the White House pay them to back its guy?

The others, those with common sense, those with priorities of family, work, church, and other non-political priorities have not yet decided between Black St Sen James Meeks and others. Meeks is probably the strongest Black candidate and he clearly transcends race and is not racist.

Emanuel was heckled by angry Chicago voters -——a clear sign he knows he can be elected the “Chicago Way”——with voter fraud.

It was embarrassing watching the news clip of Rahm on his “listening tour.” He wasn’t exactly mobbed by enthusiastic Chicagoans welcoming their “hero” back from the DC wars.

Couldn’t seem to get many people to talk-—some Chicagoans looked down on shortstuff when he tried to shake their hands.

Heck, it’s so bad, candidate Rahm might be forced to raid the cemeteries of neighboring states in order to get elected mayor.

Rahm Emanuel must first become eligible as a candidate.

Eligibility is a ruse. He can use it as a reason to bow out, IMO.

I doubt that Rahm will ever enter the mayor’s office as anything other than a visitor.

Rahm will soon find himself pinned under the Obama bus. The only real ally he has in the White House is David Axelrod who is soon on his way out the Exit Door. Team Jarrett/Obama will be backing a different horse in the race, much to the chagrin of Mr. Deadfish.

Back at you, Rahm.
