Obama's industrial policy is designed to make America non-competitive in the world economy, destroy millions of jobs, and devastate our manufacturing and industrial capacities. No one will want to invest here, and fewer and fewer U.S. companies will be exporting goods "Made in America." And we have a fierce competitor called China.
How far down this road we already are can be seen in the following data:
During this ten-year period, total exports from the United States to China totaled $424 billion, while exports from China to the United States totaled $2.163 trillion, resulting in a U.S. net trade deficit with China of $1.793 trillion. A symbol of China's takeover of manufacturing is Wal-Mart, one of the largest U.S. importers of Chinese-made goods.
... US based Wal-Mart was responsible for $27 billion dollars in U.S. imports from China in 2006 and 11% of the growth of the total U.S. trade deficit with China alone eliminated nearly 200,000 U.S. jobs in this period.

Now, there is already no ‘industrial America’. Go to any store, Walmart, Target, any of them and try to find one single thing that is made in America. I can tell you, you will find nothing there from America.
Every single thing has been shipped. We don't even make our own military equipment. What could be more stupid than that?

Granted, the de-industrialization of America has roots going back decades, however, Obama has put it on warp drive.
Clearly, this is odious treason of the first order and Obama should answer for it in a court of law.

Yes, it does make sense - from Obama’s point of view, that is - the viewpoint of the most dangerous traitor in American history - the viewpoint of a psychopath with an intense hatred for the United States who carries a list of “things needed to be done in order to destroy the Republic” in his pocket.

There are two factors in play right off the top of my head. First is that every country would like to manufacture their own goods and export if possible. Yes,we had a lead but its unreasonable to think we could hold the share we used to have.
One of the reasons for the process accelerating,apart from government policy,is of course wages. Much of what we used to ship out,such as autos,were made non competitive by union labor.
The first is difficult to deal with. One nation will have to constantly create the new,the best and even the cheapest products in order to be the biggest manufacturer. There’s no reason to manufacture more than you can sell after all and its a global marketplace. The second issue of wages,which is being dealt with in some small measure now still needs much work. However,the more automated a process becomes,the less need for skilled labor and that’s a pathway we’ve been going down for a long time as well.
A tough thorny issue and one that’s tied up with so many factors that a quick solution seems improbable.

Remember during the campaign Perot was yelling about the 'sucking sound' of our jobs being lost to foreign nations.
All the Dems were for it. Who would be stupid enough not to know that exporting our jobs would be bad for us?
We've been hemorrhaging jobs to foreign nations like Communist China ever since.
For those enterprises that made the move overseas right away, there was nothing but exorbitant profits to be made. What could be better for a typical American manufacturer? You get to avoid all U.S. payroll taxes, worker's compensation costs and environmental regulations and hurdles. You no longer have to deal with unions and provide employee benefits like health insurance and retirement plans. You get to manufacture in China, Indonesia and similar foreign nations to your heart's content.
On October 10, 2000, Clinton signed into law the U.S.-China Relations Act of 2000.
He is responsible for China's rise as a militant, nuclear armed threat to the United States. China has grown from an agrarian backwater into the world's third largest economy on Clinton's watch.
With their new wealth, China has sought military parity with the United States. They have been aided by President Clinton and corporate America. US companies spent over 100 million dollars lobbying congress to pass the China Relations Act. Most of that money went to buy congressional votes with campaign donations.
A few American stockholders have profited immensely from modernizing China's armed forces. Still more US companies have built factories in China. These factories and plenty of cheap, docile labor earn huge profits for these investors. Protecting these profits was Clinton's China policy.
For Americans in general, the solution to this impending disaster is to reverse and cancel NAFTA/GATT immediately, restore our tariff and trade restrictions and set a rule that those manufacturers who want to sell to Americans had better plan on moving back to manufacture in America.

You could argue that this has been going on in some form since the Marshall Plan. Economic support & “Free Trade” were important components of the US Security Umbrella.
