Where to start with the doomed campaign of Republican Tea Party-backed Charlotte Bergmann, who is challenging incumbent U.S. Rep. Steve Cohen for the Ninth District Congressional seat?

Let's start with her campaign signs -- symbols of a political novice and her delusions.

My Dad carries a Bronze Star, spent 6 years in the Pacific, he and another man shimmied up a telegraph pole under sniper fire to put our Flag back up on ‘The Rock’ after MacArthur retook Corregidor. My uncle-in-law spent 6 years with Merrill’s Marauders. I spent a decade fighting for crime victims to have State Constitutional rights, because criminals had more rights than I the victim did. I spent 14.5 years fighting to keep my 16 year old son’s killer in prison.

I follow the teachings of Jesus, to treat others as they treat me, and Dr. Kings’ of judging others by the content of their character.

Ms Thomas’ opinion was the most bigoted, denigrating piece of tripe I’ve read in a long time.

Ms Thomas insulted all black people by assuming they were all stupid or illiterate. That they should sit on the porch and do as Master Cohen told them to do.

That the 9th District was Mr Cohen’s possession or personal toy.

Well I have news for Ms Thomas, first of all Ms. Bergmann has a Masters Degree. She does NOT believe that the 9th district is her possession or toy, she believes it is THE PEOPLE’s SEAT.

If you want higher taxes, fewer constitutional rights, more government intrusion into your business and life, amnesty for illegals, more rights for criminals than victims, your granny’s or aunt’s Medicare gutted, your health care taken over by government, genocide of the unborn as birth control, being enslaved to the government, then by all means vote for the Pelosi/Reid liberal career politician clone Steve Cohen.

On the other hand if you believe that the 9th district is THE PEOPLES SEAT, you want less taxes, less government intrusion into your business and lives, to send illegals home, repeal the GUTTING of Medicare, the government take over of health care, that punishment should fit the crime and criminals should NOT have more rights than their victims, that genocide of the unborn for the sake of birth control is wrong, that the USA and our Constitution comes first, then vote for Ms Bergmann.

If Lt. Col. Allen West, J.C. Watts, Michelle Malkin, Michelle Bachmann or Sarah Palin were to run for president I’d vote for any of them in a heart beat, because I judged them by the content of their character, as putting Americans and our Constitution before government enslavement of the People.

Between now and Nov 2nd you must chose, whether to become ENSLAVED to the government by voting for the Pelosi clone Steve Cohen or stay a liberty loving FREE person by voting for Ms Bergmann. The choice is your, I chose LIBERTY and voted for Ms Bergmann Gail

Memphis, TN – Memphis residents have long regarded Commercial Appeal columnist Wendi Thomas as a cranky left wing opinion writer, but Sunday morning they got to know that Miss Thomas has outright animosity for fellow black women who do not follow her ideology. In a rambling diatribe accusing TN- 9 Republican Congressional candidate Charlotte Bergmann of being “delusional”, “dead”, and claiming that her supporters want to repeal the rights of women and African-Americans, she ends her column with the line for Miss Bergmann to “join [2008 candidate] Tinker on the porch.

Said Bergmann, “I knew I would be attacked by liberals on issues of policy that I disagree with, but to have a fellow African American woman insinuate that I am a ‘porch Negro’ is beyond anything I thought I would ever experience in this campaign.”

Bergmann Political Director Howie Morgan stated, “I have worked with African American Republicans all over the country. This kind of hateful, personal attack on any candidate is beyond what anyone should ever experience. The disgraceful and intentionally venomous language Miss Thomas uses against Charlotte Bergmann is nothing that any serious person who claims to practice journalism should ever use. Scripps Howard Newspapers and the Commercial Appeal should fire Miss Thomas today.”

Charlotte Bergmann sprang into the public conscience in the Republican Primary when it was revealed that years ago she lost her home, lived in her car briefly, yet still raised 3 kids and earned a Bachelors Degree and MBA from Christian Brothers University. She is challenging Steve Cohen in the November 2 General Election.

I hope you and Ms Bergmann succeed. It’s time for citizens to wake up and see what the political class is doing and the real contempt they have for the public. That column was one of the most insulting things I’ve ever read.

IT made the local news, and local talk radio, no one liked it even the liberal black callers. Thomas was doing her best to keep conservatives from voting by saying there is no use, that cohen OWNS the seat. Course I called in and put my 2 cents in.
