After defeating Steve Poizner in the Republican primary, it looked as though Meg Whitman would simply steamroll the Democrat candidate. Meg Whitman had been the CEO of e-Bay and became a billionaire in the process. The idea of a successful businesswoman running California had a strong appeal, but an over-managed campaign by inept advisers and Whitman’s inability to take a stand on key issues of the greatest importance to California doomed her campaign to failure.
The individual running against Meg Whitman is none other than aging hippie retread, Jerry Brown, the same bungler who allowed California state workers to unionize, which led to salary and pension deals, that are helping to drive California toward bankruptcy. You’d think Whitman might have mentioned that in a few commercials, but her dream team of “genius” political advisers either didn’t think it was important or they were afraid of offending the union members.
A recent news article reports “Democrat Jerry Brown has opened up a wide lead over his Republican challenger, Meg Whitman, with just eight days left before Election Day, a new LA Times/USC poll has found. Brown’s lead over Whitman has jumped to 13 percentage points. Of the voters surveyed, 52% said they would vote for Brown while just 39% said they planned to vote for Whitman.”
Meg Whitman has failed over and over to make her positions clear on the issues. When the Arizona immigration law SB1070 became national news, Whitman could have clearly voiced her support for it, but instead she produced a bewildering answer that it was OK for Arizona, but bad for California because California is bigger. Why should the size of California matter?

Michael Savage was talking about this tonight, and he said if she ran as a conservative as opposed to a wishy washy moderate, and took a stand on illegal immigration she’d be up in the polls.
Whitman has done more to “stimulate” the economy of California with her money than all the other Californicator Democrats together and their TARP/Stimulus funds.
Remember, California is to America as Red Square is to Russia/Communism. It will take some time and hard work to clean out both.
Whitman is a start.
Her big mistake was to alienate conservatives by “dissing” Sarah Palin in her debate with Brown.
The nanny episode certainly did not help either.
A case of a RINO who thought she could win as a RINO and got hoisted by her own petard.

For every registered Republican in California, there are over 2 registered Democrats.
California is a blue state, almost like Massachusetts or New York.

The only downside I see to Gov Moonbeam is that I KNOW the rest of us taxpayers will be forced by Baraq to bail them out.

I was listening Inga Barks, a California conservative radio talk show host when she substituted for Mark Levin. She talked about how difficult a time she would have voting for Meg Whitman but no trouble voting for Carly Fiorina. She was talking about voting 3rd party and at that very moment I realized that Meg had missed the boat with conservatives.
Meg, conservatives have had it up to here voting for RINO’s like McCain in 2008. Never again.
Republicans (who can) must self-finance...they don’t have the free media that Democrats do.
You may still have hope, all money has to come from the House, and Republicans COULD refuse, however it's not likely 'cause of the RINOs, again.
I don’t have a dog in this hunt, but I assume that Whitman
is a RINO, and after her declaring her adoration for Van Jones, I decided that Calliifornya might as well have a
drug infested, dope smoking hippie at the helm when the state
sails away to sink.

The number of registered voters in California rose by more than one million between the November 2006 gubernatorial election and the June 2010 gubernatorial primary (from 15.8 to 17 million), and the composition of the electorate has shifted. Democrats constitute 44.5% of registered voters (up 3 points since 2006), Republicans make up 30.8% (down 3.5 points), and decline-to-state or independent voters account for 20.2% (up 1.5 points). Our surveys indicate that among those most likely to vote, 44% are Democrats, 35% are Republicans, and 18% are independents, relatively unchanged since 2006.”
Not great, granted, but hardly a 2:1 ratio.
