I'm a California Attorney and have been for the last 25 years and a conservative too. I have to be conservative, because facts, as is so often said, are stubborn things. Many elegant legal theories have been destroyed by one simple ugly fact. An attorney's currency is facts. Sure we attorneys spin facts, dance around facts, try to distort facts; but, facts are what they are whether the trier of facts, such as a jury, is amused by your presentation or not. Juries do get it. And why wouldn't they? They're voters too.
I have tried cases before juries. And the most important thing to learn as a trial attorney about juries is never insult them. Never their belief, their opinions or their personal integrity. Of course, we devilish bastards do try to change their point of view to that of our client... it's what we are paid to do the best of our ability. But, the stubborn fact remains that you never attack the integrity of the jury.
"Why not?," you might ask. Simple, the jury always has the last word. Voters are no different than a jury. A politician may challenge our beliefs, may challenge our opinions by the use of rhetoric, but insult us?
What has happened this election cycle on the part of the Democrats is amazing and I've personally never seen this in my state nor throughout the nation's elections in the many years I have watched the process. Conservatives this cycle have been called a litany of things: racists, Nazis, radicals, extremists and bigots. Friends of conservatives such as the Tea Party have been vilified too. Along with all the names ascribed to conservatives, they are also called AstroTurf, tantrumous children, uninformed, stupid, thugs, villainous, unAmerican, Fascists, whores, bitches and the like. All of which does not amount to getting us to re-examine our opinions and beliefs. All of which is a direct and insulting attack.
Now let me pose a very simple question to the Democrats and their leader. Do you think your insults endears us voters to your candidates? It's okay. We all know the answer.
I personally abhor losing a case. It happens. The only attorney I know who has won every case has only tried one. But, I will not and never have insulted the very people that will decide my client's fate.
The tactics used by the Democrats in this cycle are absurd and ill-informed about this electorate. In the very clear word of Sarah Palin, it is up to us, the jury, ie., voters, to "refudiate" any and all Democratic candidates.
As a voter, you have been insulted by the Democrat "lawyer." You now have the last word on that. Please vote on Tuesday.
“You are AstroTurf, tantrumous children, uninformed, stupid, thugs, villainous, unAmerican, Fascists, whores, bitches and the like.”
NOW VOTE FOR ME!
We’re superior to you racists.
Now vote for us. :)
There ya go: Superior. Morally, intellectually, and socially. We know what’s best for you. And it’s time to take your medicine, peon.
The core of liberalism is the elitist attitude that the vast majority of people are too dumb to make the “right” decisions in their lives and the elites and big government must make these decisions for them. From Obama’s rant about the bitter people clinging to their guns and religion to John Kerry’s calling us a nation of “know nothings” the message is the same. Well, finally the American people are sick of this and next Tuesday will make their will known at the polls. Already the media is ginning up to explain why Obama socialism was rejected chalking it up to the people being idiots who were swayed by right wing extremists.
And, of course, the libs once again “failed to get their message out.”
Especially Hussein on healthcare. He really failed to adequately promote that one. /s
Do you think he’ll run again?
Things figure to be a lot tougher for him next time in MA and I have to wonder if he’s up to the challenge and the possibility of another defeat?
I don’t think John Kerry has a life without politics. I see him like Ted, holding on to the bitter end. He craves the fawning adulation and flattery. Besides, I don’t think we wants to be locked inside with Frau Heinz all day.
The world has changed, and Kerry’s Sixties shtick just doesn’t pack the house like it did in good old days. Most people in Massachusetts tolerated Teddy in the end, I doubt he had many admires, except among the kool-aide drinkers. People vote Democratic here because their Irish, Italian or Portugese grandmothers can’t believe that they’d vote Republican. The newer generations didn’t know Grandma, find the topic of Vietnam booooooring, and Kerry more ‘n a little goofy.
If he had a competent challenger like Sean Bielat or Scott Brown, I think he’d go down, big time, especially if, as I forecast, 2012 is a Republican year.
I really think the Dems think the Tea Party groups aren’t real, aren’t truly grass roots, and that they think they are like the hired event bodies they use to pump up crowds. They couldn’t be more wrong.
One more example of liberals projecting their own misbehavior onto conservatives.
It just doesn’t occur to the libs that there might be a straight-up way of doing something.
Look at Pelosi: she started the “Astroturf” business last year but how does SHE operate?
Excellent!
truly awesome
The above applies in spades if you need every vote, but Democrats know Conservative voters will not vote for a Dim in almost any circumstance.
They are trying to get the Dim base alarmed enough to actually drop the remote and go vote (and not for a Republican).
Trouble is, that’s getting to be an Incredible Shrinking Base. Thanks in part to the obnoxiousness of the leadership.
Life is good.
The lights come on and the roaches scurry for cover. The ones caught in the open curse the coming boot heel.
