Diana West: Admiral Mullen Speaks On Koran At Hoover Institute - And Knows Not What It Says
Here's The Right Side Of It ^ | November 15, 2010 | John L. Work

We’ve listened for just about nine years, two months and fourteen days to upper echelon political officials (including George W. Bush) and high-ranking members of the armed forces feed us milk-toast and pabulum about Islam and the Koran. The state of denial in the Pentagon about the true nature of codified Muslim doctrine is not getting better – it’s getting much worse.

Today Diana West of the Washington Examiner covers an astounding speech given last weekend by Admiral Mike Mullen, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. If anything is illustrative of the delusions under which our troops are fighting and dying, it is here:

http://www.dianawest.net/Home/tabid/36/EntryId/1580/Who-Briefs-This-Man.aspx

“Let’s assume Admiral Mike Mullen, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs, knows his way around a battleship. However, he clearly doesn’t know his way through the Koran. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have made such a fool of himself this past weekend at the Hoover Institution where he pressed literacy as a “new” deterrent to jihad because the potential “extremist” will then “understand the Koran for what it is and not merely what his mullah tells him it is.”

No record of anyone present crying out, “For God’s sake, man, have you a brain?” or harrumphing noticeably.

From The Hill, via Weasel Zippers:

Adm. Mike Mullen, in a speech at Stanford University’s Hoover Institution, said Hamas, Hezbollah, the Taliban and al-Qaida can be deterred by the threat of retaliation, but efforts to attack the basis of extremism were essential through support of education and development.

“Attacking the humiliation, the hopelessness, the illiteracy and abject poverty which lie at the core of the attraction to extremist thought will do more to turn the tide against terrorism than anything else,” the chairman said. “We can continue to hunt and kill their leaders, and we will. But when a person learns to read, he enters a gateway toward independent education and thought. He becomes more capable, more employable, and enjoys a sense of purpose in his life.

“He will understand the Koran for what it is and not merely what his mullah tells him it is, who is equally uneducated,” Mullen continued. “He can raise his children to a higher standard of living than the one he knew, an aspiration shared by parents around the world. And his wife will help him prevent the despair that might lead a child of theirs into the arms of al-Qaida or the Taliban.”

It’s too easy just to flag such ignorance born of a stubborn, reckless and at some point criminal disregard for Islamic ideology; indeed, I’ve compiled a partial catalogue of Mullen and his mates’ political correctness-as-military-strategy.

What I want to know is who briefs this man? Who presses him to spout this non-sense about the Koran?”

Indeed.

For the denial and ignorance of the written mandates that drive jihad to have continued thus far into this very old war is beyond astonishing. I cannot find a word that adequately describes either the obstinate stupidity or the deliberate obfuscation of what the book actually says that we have been force-fed for going on ten long years. Take your choice.

The one sure way to cure extremist Muslims is to kill them.

How insanely arrogant to think ‘unbelievers’ can teach moslems the ‘truth’ about their faith. Well, the left has been doing it to Christians for at least 50 years. Maybe their confidence is well founded.

Mullin is a politically correct stooge. Millions of Muslim children are educated at madrassas, or schools devoted solely to the study of the Kuran. Thus, education offers no real safeguard because the madrassas are much too often the incubator of dangerous Islamist (Salafist) thought. Given their widespread influence, such schools are dangerous to the stability of Pakistan, and to Nigeria, Bangladesh and Indonesia (among other Muslim nations).

Or perhaps they learn about Islam from that terrible movie, The Message, starring Anthony Quinn. Anyone here ever seen it?

Adm Mullen is a self hating left wing democrat who also supports repeal of dont ask, dont tell. He is a shill and puppet for Obama and decided long ago that his career advancement is far more important than his honor or that of the Navy. He is the person who needs to be educated, and fired.

Someone needs to remind Mullin that the participants in the 9-11 attack on America were well educated and for the most part relatively affluent
