If You Got Cancer From Smoking, That's YOUR Problem
Publius Forum ^ | 11/21/10 | Warner Todd Huston

The government's newest great idea to save us all from ourselves is to put billboard sized photos of cancer victims on packs of cigarettes. Big pictures of guys with holes in their necks, lungs blackened, maybe even the occasional really yellow teeth, or perhaps the severely calloused thumb of a smoker who was constantly flicking his Bic will assault our eyes when we go to buy our smokes.

Whatever.

But does anyone really care about people that have damaged themselves for smoking? Not really. In fact, the logical reaction is to shrug one's shoulders in a too-bad-for-you-pal way and move on with your life. The fact is, no one cares if you got cancer from smoking. It is not only your problem but it's your fault.

Let's face it, people. There isn't a soul in this country that is so stupid that they are wholly unaware of anti-smoking claims that smoking can give you debilitating, death-dealing diseases. No one. Everyone is fully familiar with the evidence.

Cancer is a horrible disease. But at this point who doesn't know that doctors claim you can get it from smoking? These "warnings" are just more nanny state nonsense. (Speaking of cancer.... here come the soros-funded self-appointed blog police...)

If you got fat from overeating and have heart, BP, diabetes, kidney or any other disease, that’s your problem too.

Sorry, there are many on FR that deny the link between smoking and disease.

The crime here is that smokers have been robbed for decades with taxation and they will be denied medical attention if the gov can link it to the smoking.

Aids? heck, the government will subsidize that behavior, Insurance company’s are all to happy to cover same sex partners.

Diabetes? There is no Ding dong or twinkie tax.

Hey, you forgot to post about half the text.
Why redirect traffic to your blog to read it?

Why not just post it here?
It’s not THAT bad.

Smokers are in denial about the dangers of smoking. They just don't believe it. Look at obama.

Mr. Huston,

Have you ever posted an article from anywhere other than your own blog? Is there nothing else out there that interests you? Promoting your own enterprise seems to be your only interest in membership here.

No one cares? The anti-smoking nazis almost delight when a smoker gets cancer.

Indeed. They imposed massive taxes on cigarettes under the premise that it was necessary to pay for the health-care costs associated with smoking. If you get a smoking related illness after having paid the taxes, they say "We spent your money on something else. Go die, already."
