The battle for the last statewide office is over in California, as San Francisco district attorney Kamala Harris declared victory in the race for California Attorney General. GOP candidate and Los Angeles County district attorney Steve Cooley threw in the towel for the race last Wednesday, but Harris waited until today’s deadline for state’s counties to certify their results. The attorney general spot, currently held by newly elected Governor Jerry Brown, was the GOP’s last hope of taking one of nine statewide offices

What is amazing to me is that Cooley won an unprecedented four consecutive terms as Los Angeles County DA, but, in this election, lost to Harris in LA County by 14 points. The only explanation is that the DA's races were nonpartisan, unlike the AG race, so it seems that Anglenos were more than happy to vote for Cooley until they saw an "R" next to his name.

I’m sure you’re right. All we need is evidence, although in Bob Dornan’s race even evidence wasn’t enough to overturn the results.

California is starting to look alot like Detroit. Watch for an uptick in the flight of more of the producing class. In another decade you too can buy a house for $1 in a state which was once the 7th largest economy in the world.

Cooley out-polled Whitman by about 200k votes.

California is proof that voter fraud works.

California is proof that the Electoral College works to contain voter fraud to individual states.

Can you imagine that damage that would be done if ALL of California's votes counted towards the national popular vote count without an Electoral College?

The L.A. Times endorsed Cooley (but otherwise endorsed Dems). That may have had an impact.

We need to get a betting pool going on how long it will be before California goes under. I bet two years should do it.

And the SF Chron pointedly refused to endorse Boxer. Maybe newspaper endorsements are worth zilch.

This is just fine.

Now with a GOP House, we don't have to worry about a bailout for these obscenely prolific spenders.

California is proof that voter fraud works.

Brown and Boxer each won by double digits. hard to put all of that down to fraud.

“We need to get a betting pool going on how long it will be before California goes under. I bet two years should do it.”

I will take the “under” on that bet. California will be issuing IOU’s in less than six months. They won’t be able to meet payroll in less than nine months. California bonds will be used as bathroom tissue in less than two years.

Hard to believe? Why do you think all of the UFOs go there? They're watching a show of absolute blinding mass stupidity that is unique to all the universe!
