This is the Dutch in a nutshell: If it is “transparent,” then it is okay. That opens the door to a lot of wickedness. Take infanticide. Dutch doctors kill babies born with terminal and disabling conditions. But rather than being ashamed, some are apparently proud because it is done according to procedure. From a Radio Netherlands Worldwide report:
Instead of emulation, Dutch euthanasia policies have over the past ten years mainly met with criticism: “After euthanasia and infanticide, the next step in the Netherlands will most likely be a suicide pill for people who are tired of life, even though it will probably take a few years before it’s legal.” (Correspondent Greg Burke, Fox News)”
Uh, the “tired of life” proposal was first made by the then Minister of Health the day after euthanasia was formally legalized, and is now to be debated in the Parliament after to a petition signed by more than 100,000 Dutch citizens demanded it:
“The Nazi laws and Hitler’s ideas have made a comeback in Dutch euthanasia laws and the debate about how sick children are killed.” (Italian minister Carlo Giovanardi) The criticisms regarding the killing of children refer to a medical protocol drawn up by neonatologists for the termination of life for newborn babies who are suffering unbearable pain without a prospect of improvement. Professor Van Leeuwen says: “You could ask yourself if it was even necessary”.
I see: Killing babies is okay because , “We have a protocol.” How very postmodern Dutch.
And here is a really telling point: As I write this, the Dutch are prosecuting a right wing politician for making nasty comments about the Koran. If convicted, he will face jail for a felony. But doctors openly commit infanticide–which remains murder under Dutch law–and they are applauded. Free speech, no! Killing, yes!
Exactly and it is repulsive.

The worst of humanity comes easy when humanism leads the way. There was nothing extraordinary about Hitler and the people who followed him. Stalin and Mao were not exceptional as murderous tyrants go. Take God out of the reasoning of man, and you get progressive insanity and inhumanity to humanity, starting with the weakest among us.

If the above it correct, it may explain this story.
Killing the weak and defenseless is what the liberals call being “progressive”. You can tell a lot about a country by how they treat their newborns.
Don’t get me wrong on this point, no fault divorce is the first warning light of threat for a society spinning out of control. Call it strike one. Legalized abortion is the second warning light, the sign of serious danger. Call it strike two. Infanticide and euthanasia are the flashing twin lights of imminent, self-imposed catastrophe. Call them strike three. They are all signs of the failure of Christians to be the salt and light needed to preserve society. In such things surely Catholic and Protestant are agreed and can, with their voices both collectively and with their individual adherents, speak to threat without the need of attacking each other for their doctrinal. This is not to deny their differences..

If they are not openly religious, are they religious at all? Are they Christian in any real sense, or is it just the remnants of what once was that still cling to them? I lived in Europe for a number of years (enough to learn and speak the language well) in a country that was, according to gazetteers in a number of published atlases, about 70% Roman Catholic. But that was simply and completely untrue. The actual percentage was probably a tenth of that.
I don’t know, but if this article is any indication, it seems that not much of a religious nature is happening there.
Then we are agreed, not much of a religious nature is happening there. And it is both saddening and tragic for the very youngest, the very oldest, and, in the long run, for all who dwell there.
