“If parents like Sarah Palin want their kids to eat cookies for lunch, no one is going to stop them.”

Well isn’t that snarky? If you don’t want your kids to eat at the salad bar, you must want them to have cookies for lunch. Like that out of shape pig Sarah Palin and her obese family????

I love the underside of the blue dress lady’s shoes. Such attention to detail.

The author of the article, Ed Bruske, is obviously a self-loathing asshole.

Elementary-school children could serve themselves salad, as long as the salad bar was designed specifically for small children with a plastic barrier (aka "sneeze guard") positioned at an appropriate height.

Hahahaha! Like that's going to stop little Johnny from blowing buggers and spitting in it.

Carla Bruni-Sarkozy, wife of the President of the French Republic. Never noticed the shoes in that picture.

Having a salad won’t do anything if you smother it with dressing like 1000 Island or Ranch or French...

Obestity has nothing to do with schools.

Schools served the same things back in the 70s and 80s they do today and there was far less obesity back then.

They’d be better off increasing phys ed classes. Kids exercised more back then. Now they’re all online or texting or facebooking or playing video games.

Ironically enough, the WH use dto run this thing called the President’s Challenge for Physical Fitness. It was a contest among all 50 states where people signed up and used these stepcounters to measure how physically active they were for say 6 weeks or so over the summer. AK won back to back in 2008-9. The first two yrs of the program that started in 2008. For some reason, the WH ended the program after 2009. I wonder why?

http://www.fitness.gov/presidents-challenge/pcfsn-awards/presidents-challenge-winners-2009.html

So under Gov Palin’s leadership AK was the most active state in both 2008-2009 She should really tout that.

It’s not about salad bars. I saw last night where she was out there hiking 12 miles with her dad and his friend. That’s what’s needed. You don’t get obese if you do stuff like that.

Are the kids going to be helping themselves, or will the lunchroom ladies be doing the serving?? ‘Cause I am so sure the kids will NOT use the spoons/tongs/forks/whatever ALL the time, there WILL be grubbing in the lettuce and various whatnots going on!!!

Wendy's got rid of their salad bars decades ago for two very good reasons:

1)They lost a fortune on them

2)They were impossible to keep clean and presentable looking.

I go back as far as the 40s and 50s in school and they served the same things then also. Hardly any fat kids because we all had to work and we all participated in recess and PE. Our families managed to feed us and keep us from being malnutritioned.
