Since I voted for Ronald Reagan in 1984, I have cast six presidential ballots - all for Republicans, but in every instance with my thumb and forefinger clasped firmly on my nose. My two votes for Reagan were offered up enthusiastically, optimistically and with confidence that I was voting for a candidate devoted to individual liberty, Constitutional faithfulness, American exceptionalism and free market principles. In my six votes since (four Bushes, a Dole and a McCain), I knew without doubt that the person for whom I was voting did not come remotely close to matching Reagan's belief in the ideals I just cited. Of course, in each case, my candidate appeared substantially more palatable than the egalitarian, statist-obsessed leftist that the Dems put up - so the choice was foreordained; although, in the end, it felt like a choice between an uber liberal and liberal lite. Therefore, in some sense, it didn't matter that much who won as the victor continued to lead America down the path toward Euro-socialism, multiculturalism, moral degeneracy and economic calamity.
(snip)
Within the field there are definitely several candidates who appear worthy of the mantle worn by Reagan. Two in particular are very attractive to me: Jim DeMint and Mike Pence.....

The GOP didn’t want a conservative. No other way to explain Rudy McRomney being the frontrunner start to finish. It ain’t called the stupid party for nothing.
Pence is fine, but he'll likely end up with the same problem as your object of worship, Duncan something or other......
That’s a ticket I could vote for enthusiastically - both are solid conservatives, as well as knowledgeable, experienced, competent, articulate, unafraid and lacking in “lightning rod” qualities that would turn off independents.
Any asshat who has to ‘hold his nose’ for a candidate because he/she has ‘insufficient gravitas’ is proof that they didn’t give a test before allowing him to register the domain ‘intellectualconservative.com’.
You hold your nose on policy, not because of what other people think of the damn candidate.
Will she still be damaged goods when she kicks Obama out of the WH?
Palin/DeMint 2012
Palin/Bolton 2012
Palin/Bachmann 2012
Palin/Liz Cheney 2012
Palin/pissant 2012... with conditions. She would need to keep you at an undisclosed location with no computer access. See-— I’m even willing to vote for you. ;>)
DeMint is a great guy, but his inability to speak in public without the rural Carolina idioms will keep him from ever running for president.
Pence is just another unqualified DC establishment guy.
Not sure how conservatism would continue to exist w/o her constant tweets and facebook posts. They are the backbone of America.
Thank you,
But I think you need to add the /sarc.
BTW, you realize this means you are a Democrat and a Bozo, or something.
That post, in a vacuum, I agree with.
Ordinarily tweets and facebook would be pathetic, but not when millions are watching. Too bad the other conservatives cannot get it together enough to get their message out to as many as Sarah via bypassing the MSM. But then, I guess they are not smart enough, clever enough to do it, and MORE importantly, are not ballsy enough even if they could do it.
I will be very happy to vote DeMint/Pence, and if DeMint runs and Sarah runs and DeMint gets the upper hand and defeats her in the primaries because of his superior campaign performance, then GREAT, it will mean that Sarah was not as good as I thought she was and DeMint was better than I thought he was. Either way, its win win for me, and for the country.
I would like to see Bolton in the mix!!
Duncan can shine Sarah’s shoes. America said NO WAY to him in spades and he has no business running for potus again. Total waste of everyone’s time, much like Pence would be.
It can be abbreviated:
Depends 2012!
Wait. Wait. He lost to "unsure" by a 7-1 margin in his last primary.......
Mike Hunter?
Really. Do 'damaged goods' usually sell millions of copies of two books, bring over three million eyes to her outdoor TV program every week, and have every news outlet reporting her every opinion that she posts on Twitter or Facebook? If so, can you make me "damaged goods" too?
Of course. A couple of low name recognition members of the House (who have zero executive experience)
I don't understand how it is that so many on here can't recognize the difference in legislating and governing.
Perhaps that's why congressmen can seem to be so pure on the issues, they are just one vote of many.
Executives have to make and live with their decisions daily.
No more legislators please...let's elect a leader.
These guys are staunch conservatives...so what. So am I and I would not make a good president (although I might have more executive decision making experience than these two...)
Although he'd be an outstanding SecDef, IMO.
This is just childish. Who is this GOP you speak of?
Is it not made up of all us republicans? Doesn't the candidate with the most votes win?
Maybe if we, as conservatives could come together en masse behind a single conservative candidate we could keep the establishment RINO's from winning with a plurality.
You think you are so pure on your conservative values, and yet you are so weak on your political instincts. You are not helping, but you do have a point about it being the stupid party...you prove that on here daily.
