President Obama Falsely Claims the GOP Opposed Middle-Class Tax Cuts – Video
Freedom's Lighthouse ^ | December 7, 2010 | Brian

Here is video from President Obama’s Press Conference today where he falsely claimed that Republicans had opposed extending tax cuts on the “middle-class.” Obama made the statement as he said he would oppose extending tax cuts for the wealthiest people in 2012, “just as I suspect the Republican Party may fight to end the middle-class tax cuts that I have championed, and that they’ve opposed.”

Republicans never opposed middle-class tax cuts in this battle. Instead, the GOP wanted to extend the Bush Tax Cuts for ALL Americans. Obama is already trying to frame the 2012 Campaign around this issue. He is shameless in saying whatever suits his purposes, whether there’s an ounce of truth in it or not.

The Republicans need to take him to task over this as well as the rest of the garbage that’s coming out of his mouth. They need to do it NOW.

I watched 8 long years of Republican foot dragging, if they keep doing that, they will not survive.

LLPOF

I was wondering why zer0 and the media were so explicit in saying these were tax cuts for all Americans until I realized that they were going to claim that the Bush tax cuts were only for "the rich." They were always for all taxpaying Americans, granting the exact same tax cut within each bracket whether you earned more than that bracket or not. Will the Republicans in Congress be smart enough to pounce on this lie and expose it? Sadly, I doubt it.

Who did the Republican reply to the news conference?

They had better get out ahead of this slander right away.

There's a big difference between the statements 'we support middle class tax cuts' to 'they oppose middle class tax cuts' BO you ignorant buffoon.

One stretches the truth and the other a flat lie.

Maybe cue cards would work better?

Obama and the rest of the Rats in the DNC and MSM denied for YEARS that Bush cut taxes for the middle class. Then he said he wanted to EXTEND those cuts (translation, didn’t want to be on record INCREASING taxes on the middle class).

Can’t have it both ways Obambi.

And I suppose no one in the GOP is calling him on it?

If the GOP is smart, once the new congress is seated, they should send tax cut bills up to the White Hut every week. But not just regular tax cuts, include eliminating taxes on unemployment benefits or something like that (kind of a poison pill). At first blush a lot of conservatives will think I'm crazy, but here's how they frame it. Pass a bill lowering corporate tax rates and capital gains as well as dividends, but include the elimination of the UI tax. Demagogue the UI tax repeal as a break for the jobless. When Hussein vetos it, start complaining about 0blahblah not caring about the unemployed.

Pull the same populist nonsense that the progressives always play.
