The Cross is Banned in Bethlehem, and Christians inthe Middle East are Under Seige

We are far too accustomed to thinking that the Middle East is populated only by Muslims and a few Jews. There are Christians living there, too, often beleaguered and under attack. Here are three stories that remind us during this Christmas season that life for Christians in the Holy Land during this Holy Season can be particularly perilous. First, we learn that the cross, the very symbol of Christianity, has basically been abolished from Bethlehem, the birthplace of Jesus.

“This Christmas in Bethlehem, the cross has been banned from souvenirs for tourists and pilgrims in the Holy Land. Some textile workshops in Jerusalem and Hebron have begun to print and sell T-shirts depicting the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem without the cross. Because of the growth of Islamic fundamentalism in the Palestinian territories, the cross was also removed from t-shirts of football teams.Interviewed by AsiaNews, Samir Qumsieh, journalist and director of the Catholic television station Al-Mahed Nativity TV in Bethlehem, said: “I want to launch a campaign to urge people not to buy these products – he says – because the removal of the cross is an intimidation against Christians, it is like saying that Jesus was never crucified. ”

They have the muslims, we have the ACLU and the homos. Christianity has been under attack for 2000. We had peace in the US for about 200 years, but the left in league with the ACLU, homosexuals and the muslims are now leading a renewed effort against all things Christian.

This is very sad.. 40 some years ago I bought gold crosses in Bethlehem.

Religious tolerance has certainly gone to the dogs over the past 60 years.

For, as I have often told you before and now say again even with tears, many live as enemies of the cross of Christ.

Im SURE the Islamo-Fascist, appeaser and defender, Barack HUSSEIN Obummer will get right on it and send a message to his "Buds" (Hamas and Fatah both) to stand down, right?

RIGHT?

On second thought, he will probably call Bibi and tell him that his military had best NOT interefere with the Moozies harassing, or even attacking Christians or else.....!

After all, look what our Military has done to prevent the attacks on Christians in Iraq and Afghanistan, which is Zip, Zero, Nada and for that, I blame FIRST AND FOREOMOST our former "Compassionate Conservative," RINO, WUSS, President (W) who under the advice of whomever (probably ROVE, Grover Norquist and that other pseudo-Con, Condi Rice) who refused to insist on Human Rights for all citizens of Iraq which he could have done.

BIGGEST mistake we ever made (and why we will NEVER have peace--or a true ally--with Iraq or Afghanistan) was to allow both countries to form new governments with Islam/Sharia as "Controlling" authority.

Peace on Earth Good Will to Men!!!

Thankfully, in America there is now an effort to take Christmas back by the Christians, with buttons that say “Keep Christ In Christmas, or “It is Okay To Say Merry Christmas To Me” and this year the famous “flash choir mobs” singing “Handel’s Messiah” or Christmas Carols. So there is still hope.

Merry Christmas!

In a few years or months what happens when the Star of David is forbidden in the US? Will Jews expect Christian support?

Jewish-Christian unity has been a relatively unique thing in history. The early church was under seige both by Jews who saw followers of Jesus as blasphemous apostates and Judaizers who who were content to allow them to maintain their interest in what they saw as their unique prophet so long as they did not abandon any aspect of Mosiac law.

For centuries the two religions took divergent paths as the Christian message exploded around the world and became the dominant religion on earth on the way to the gospel message being declared to all people, tongues, and nations prior to the coming end of the world. Judaism, meanwhile, saw a series of increasing levels of apostasy, the destruction of the temple, the abandonment of large segments of the Old Testament law by Jews until today Judaism remains as little more than a loose racial identity for most.

The two religions have come together somewhat over the past 100 years as Israel has been reformed and Christian preachers have spread the message of pre-tribulation rapture.

However, the Christian would be mistaken in thinking that the Jew is any more well disposed to the cross than the Muslim, the Atheist, the Hindu, or the Buddhist.

I can’t imagine President Obama would call Bibi about this. The Christian exodus from the Holy Lands has been steady for 60 years.

Why would you ever imagine that the Star of David would be forbidden in the US?

The Fed already tried to get a bank in OK to remove Christian symbols:

Wake up Alice_Anne! Your kind of thinking is what allowed a holocaust to happen in Europe.

I compliment you on your post.

There used to be alot more Christians in the Holy lands than there are now.

There were when I used to go there..

It seems to me that everyone is becoming more and more polarized.

Well, there is still Sabeel in Galilee.. and they work very hard for religious tolerance.
