I do this every year...and every year, I get more hate mail than support. And yet, I come back for more. I guess I am a glutton for punishment. Well, for what its worth (not much, I know), here we go...
Honorable Mentions: Millenium Trilogy, Exit Through The Gift Shop, Black Swan, 127 Hours, The King's Speech, The Fighter, Shutter Island, Splice, Let Me In, How To Train Your Dragon.
10. Tangled
Tangled is the first non-Pixar movie in a long time that really captured the Disney spirit. First and foremost, the main character was Rapunzel, a princess...a character that obviously appeals to all those little girls out there. Mix that with a tried and true storyline that Disney has perfected over the decades, along with a beautiful cinematography, and Disney had an obvious hit on their hands. This is a film that every little girl should be taken to.

Why hate mail?
I appreciate threads like this. Thanks for posting.
Saw The King’s Speech yesterday. It was outstanding.
Of interest to me, does anyone remember that British series, UXB, from many years ago, about defusing unexploded bombs that landed in Britain during WWII? Of interest to me, the really gorgeous guy who played the lead in that series (think his name was Anthony Andrews???) plays the Prime Minister who resigns prior to Chamberlain in The King’s Speech. He’s gotten old and gray, too, but is still recognizable.
i’d do a Top Ten list ... but I don’t think I saw 10 movies this year...
I haven’t even heard of most of them. True Grit is the only movie that seems remotely interesting.
I'll be seeing "The King's Speech." If it's half as good as "The Queen," it'll be worth it.
I only saw three of them...

kickass
of those, only kickass wasn’t a disappointment.
Enjoyed "The Book of Eli" in 2010. Don't see a mention here.
"True Grit" is the movie of the year IMO.
“Secretariat” was also a good flick.
I go every week.
You would love “The Fighter” also.
I am going to go see that simply because I love love love Colin Firth.
2010 had a bunch of lackluster movies - I checked your 2009 list and recognize more ‘decent/great’ there than this year.
“Toy Story 3: movie where men cried”
Nonsense. There was something wrong with the projector.
Winter’s Bone was a great film, not a fun film, but a great film.
No Narnia?

Anthony Andrews
The Town was surprisingly good.
The Boston boys are doing well at the box office.
