Huntsman and Pence for President? You've got to be Kidding Me
Pundit Press ^ | 1/4/11 | Timothy Knight

Could the serious 2012 contenders please stand?

Some folks in the media are actually suggesting Jon Huntsman for the 2012 Republican nomination, while RedState, one of the most influential political blogs on the internet, practically endorsed Mike Pence yesterday afternoon. The only thing left is for Senator Olympia Snowe to run for the Presidency. I couldn't imagine another unrealistic candidacy at this time, nor do I want to.

I am not anti-dark horse candidates (I supported Sarah Palin for the 2008 GOP Vice-Presidential nomination in July '08), but I am for realistic candidates being touted...

However, candidates to the left of Joe Manchin (Huntsman), or too determined for another office (Pence) are not prime contenders for the 2012 Republican nomination. Neither will run, unless forced by eager supporters, and neither have a realistic path towards victory. Huntsman is entangled with Obama and Pence is entangled with history. Could we please focus our attention on those actually willing to run and to win.

I can understand dismissing Huntsman out of hand, but what’s wrong with Pence? I like him better than I like Palin, that’s for sure.

"Sarah Palin" will either be checked or handwritten on my ballot. I will accept no substitutes.

I'm sorry, I just don't see the attraction. Granted, I haven't read her books - but then again, anybody can write a book and "sound tough" in it - and she does make a pretty speech, but I have serious doubts about her, when the rubber meets the road. Seeing her dump her obligations to the people of Alaska by quitting as Guv when people said naughty things about her told me that she's either too thin-skinned or too ambition for higher office to be truly trusted with power.

Too determined for another office? Wouldn’t that describe Palin?

I don’t know much about Huntsman but I think Pence would be a great President.

How can you base your judgment on her when you haven't even read or listened to what she has said?

Seeing her dump her obligations to the people of Alaska by quitting as Guv when people said naughty things about her told me that she's either too thin-skinned or too ambition for higher office to be truly trusted with power.

You're way off base here. Obama's henchman Pete Rouse organized and funded a political hit squad up in Alaska to both destroy her administration and bankrupt her personally in order to remove her as a threat in 2012. Her choice was simple---stay and go bankrupt, or resign and thwart their plan. She absolutely did the right thing. If she hadn't then we wouldn't even be having this discussion.

>> anybody can write a book << Anybody? You're not kidding? Looks as if you know more about the matter than do I.

You see, I was under the obviously mistaken impression that SP's publisher had hired a ghost writer to produce Palin's two books. Silly me!

exactly, how many times are folks in FR and folks in general going to parrot the lame stream media on palin ‘quitting’ and supposedly leaving the state of alaska teetering on disaster....read the damn facts as to why she resigned, and how that allowed for Alaskan government to move on seamlessly.....

good grief, i got into a vicious argument with my wife on this subject as well...we are not entitled to opinions of those opinions are based on incorrect info.....

You're being rather loose with the facts. It wasn't just "people [saying] naughty things." Alaska's "ethics" law allows the sitting governor to be sued, but I'm sure you know that. She was over half a million in debt, and climbing, from fighting frivolous lawsuits, but I'm sure you know that. She was spending most of her time fighting the "ethics" lawsuits financed by Soros and the DNC, but I'm sure you know that, too.

This "quitter" meme needs to die. Sarah Palin is an honorable person whom the Democrat/Soros machine attempted to destroy by manipulating the system to their advantage.
