The reports I’m hearing are that she was responsive at the scene and has survived surgery, so hopefully her prognosis will be good. Sadly, there were also other victims, some of whom did die, including a young child. Prayers up for all of them.

The weapon was supposed to be an automatic pistol ... at short range... this means that the bullet entered at beyond the speed of sound - carrying a shock wave that will destroy tissue an area far bigger than the diameter / size of the projectile which was supposed to have gone from temple and exited the other temple ...
Such a shock wave in this area would likely destroy much of the frontal lobe of the brain ... not a good prognosis... for functionality - even if one survives... Plus the exit wound would likely be the size of an orange - may a bit smaller ... brain tissue would be evacuated by a vacuum exit effect... Not good...
SO - all this idiot Foxnews coverage that continues to mouth optimism reflects only the Fox Network’s poor talent...
Any military surgeon or emergency room surgeon consulted could have cleared this up in a NY Second... but no - FoxNews keeps blathering on... and on ... and on...

I don’t know a thing about this medically, but what you are saying seems most logical. But the surgeon in charge at the hospital keeps saying he is “optimistic” for her outcome. I dunno?
Only thing I can imagine is that it might have been a little .22 or something and didn’t go deep into the brain.
If it was even a .380 or especially something larger, the only way she could be alive and responsive is if it struck the skull at an angle and just didn’t touch much of the brain.
Bullets can act in damned strange ways. But ICC is right, I don’t see how she survives a “point-blank” large caliber hit, at least not in any alert and functional state.

I saw the surgeon being interviewed - he chose his words carefully ... he said words about her ‘survival’ - not her functionality ...
No human can take a hypersonic ballistic round ‘through and through’ from temple to temple and survive with full brain functionality ... it just does not happen...
If the Congresswoman survives with anything near normal functionality - then it would be an act of God...
