Obviously this was his campaign kick-off, since many "journalists" from all major "news" orgs were tweeting that morning saying exactly that.
But the jumbo-tron was probably for the deaf?
Were they asking for applause or was this simply a case of somebody transcribing what was actually happening in real time?
Because they lied.
I have a sneaking suspicion that the kiddies in this regime are “surprised” by their own shadows.
Why was this “memorial” held at a university? Why wasn’t the memorial held at a church?
Doesn’t Tucson have a cathedral?
They were surprised at the applause for a couple reasons. That so many people in the arena could read, seeing that the intellect level of anyone to go (and participate) to a pep rally funeral must be very low. It was a test and many people in the arena failed, that test was that they took their eyes off the great healer Obama to look at the jumbotron.
Where was the “Leadership” from this President? There was none because he is not one. All he had to do at the first applause was to hold a hand up and say, “please”

The proof that this disgrace of a memorial service failed is that people are discussing boos, applauses and t-shirts. Had Obama been a true leader and lead a respectful memorial service the discussion we would be having is about the VICTIMS and the beautiful service that was given. Possibly represented with poems, songs, individual eulogies, tribute to our American Flag, etc. This man is so unfit for the Office, it is bordering on insanity.
And I'm surprised Gateway pundit was so foolish in jumping on this.

The speech would have worked if it had been done quietly from the oval office. I do not believe for a nanosec that the admin was unaware of what would take place.
Anyway..I don’t know why some are trying so hard to like Obama..or his speech. I guess I can relate to the desire to actually have a real President of all the people..not just a few. We all long for that day and millions were hoping Obama would be it.
But.... I’m such a bubble burster and so focused on reality that it’s annoying to not a few people. I sincerely believe that this entire sad ordeal( rally) was completely staged from start to finish with no surprises.
Obama had to “move to the center” at precisely this place in time to start the push for 2012..everyone knows it but cannot or do not want to believe that he and his circle could be that low...but yes..they were and it is all at once, unbelievable and despicable.
No words can describe the lowliness of using a child’s funeral for your agenda..happens all the time in politics around the world and if there is a God..these people will surely be the first to feel the sting of his rebuke...I doubt they believe any rebuke is forthcoming.
