Politico’s persecution of Sarah Palin
Flopping Aces ^ | 01-16-11 | DrJohn

Posted on 01/16/2011 2:20:18 PM PST by Starman417

And Politico effectively joins Barack Obama's re-election campaign.

Politico's increasingly leftward lean has finally caused it to fall over entirely. The sheer volume of anti-Palin stories over the last week was breathtaking. It's clear that they have targeted Palin.

To wit:

First they were critical of Palin for not saying anything:

Tucson shooting presents 2012 test

Their widely divergent reactions — from Tim Pawlenty’s subtle distancing from his beleaguered rival, former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin; to her virtual disappearance; to former House Speaker Newt Gingrich’s feeding of the right-wing base — are telling for what they show about the pols’ potential roles in the GOP field and their distinctive political temperaments.

Then Politico set her up as the fall guy

Patrick Kennedy points finger at Sarah Palin

“When Sarah Palin puts targets on people’s districts? Or you have 10,000 signs on the mall during the healthcare battle saying ‘Bury Obamacare with Kennedy’? When the vitriol and the rhetoric is so violent, we have to connect consequences to that.” said Kennedy, who left congress two weeks ago after serving eight terms representing Rhode Island.

Then as soon as Palin opened her mouth, they set loose the dogs of hell.

Sarah Palin grabs spotlight with ‘blood libel’ video response

On a day that political leaders in Washington and Arizona devoted to honoring Rep. Gabrielle Giffords and other victims of Saturday’s mass shooting in Tucson, Sarah Palin proved once again that her bully pulpit is second to none in commanding the attention and passions of the political world.

And they wrote of the umbrage of (left wing) Jewish groups at horrible the use of the phrase was:

Jewish Democrats jumped on her for using that highly charged term, which refers to the lie, long used as an excuse for persecution, that Jews make matzo — an unleavened bread — using the blood of Christian children. Nevada Rep. Shelley Berkley, one of the House’s most prominent Jewish Democrats, described herself as “horrified and mystified” at Palin’s choice of words. “I’m horrified that she would use that phrase and mystified as to why.”

Then they doubled up on that one Sarah Palin's 'blood libel' claim draws criticism

Sarah Palin’s cry of “blood libel” touched off an immediate backlash from many Jewish Democrats and organizations who say it’s wrong to liken criticism of her to an anti-Semitic myth that sparked centuries of persecution.

Yet not once did Politico mention that Glenn Reynolds had used the phrase recently without the left wing brouhaha. They totally ignored Jim Geraghty, who pointed out just how common is the use of the phrase. No, only when Sarah Palin uses the term is it offensive.

Then Politico told us that Republicans were crushed by Palin's response.

Republicans disappointed at Palin

“She would have done much better if she had just ridden above all the nonsense and the politics of the shooting, including all the references of her map.”

“She could have, and should have, set a different tone entirely. She did for 75 percent of the speech, but for 25 percent she did not,” Fleischer said.

And the pounding continued:

Palin's 10 Red Herrings

Sarah Palin has continued and intensified the rhetorical strategy introduced by her supporters and surrogates in the wake of the Tucson tragedy. She’s offering a series of red herrings — distracting with concepts that are truthful, but irrelevant, to deflect from other issues or vulnerabilities. (The term originates with the practice of using cured fish to put hunting dogs off the track.

Of course, Captain America saved the day

I’ve called them Pollutico since very early on.

Pollutico is also the DC RINOs new weapon of choice in their continuing campaign to "stop Sarah."

Still, I've got strong suspicions that there is another JournoList out there in which the former members of said list are coordinating their hit pieces. It's become all too apparent this week, and Pollutico is up to its eyeballs in it.

I don’t know why anyone has ever considered them a legitimate media outlet. They have been a Dem operative organization since their inception. They are little different than Kos or Michael Moore. Maybe slightly closer to the mainstream.

“She would have done much better if she had just ridden above all the nonsense and the politics of the shooting, including all the references of her map.”

I agree with this. The best defense is a good offense and her message should have stayed with the above-the-fray tone.

Stooping, yet again, to attacks against the media and opponents on the left which surveys showed most Americans didn’t believe anyway only brings her down to their level. Leave the criticism to others.

I was suspicious simply because they came out of nowhere and immediately had press credentials at the white house.

This is only slight hyperbole, but asking if someone likes Sarah Palin is just about like asking did "Jesus Christ come in the flesh?"

You get the same reactions from the same people whether you ask either or both of these questions.

Hugh Hewitt just figured out Politico isn't moderate. And, Hugh Hewitt is dumber than a brick.

Politico is staffed by some of the most dishonest, unethical people in a field known for dishonest, unethical people.

Rep. Shelley Berkley practiced law for several years, mainly as a member of the legal counsel for several Las Vegas casinos. She also served as the national director for the American Hotel-Motel Association.

Look folks, the majority of the American people and voters have POTUS Barack Hussein Obama’s number as the chief con artist & flim/flam man who would not know truth, decency, freedom and liberty, if it was right in front of his nose. And.....they also know that “Politico” is just a shrill organ for Obama and his “Hate America” Democrat Party. Actually, “Politico” is just a rant rag for the left-wing, liberal, Obama lock-steppers. I don’t lose any sleep over “Politico”. It has no objectivity, therefore it has no substance, no honest input and it is what it is, useless and unheeded, other then as an Obama cheerleader!!!

I saw that Hewitt piece on how Politico is going down hill...but he forgot to mention that Mike Allen (who started Politico) is known in DC as “Carl Rove’s reporter”.

This is Rove’s doing, no doubt.

As long as something makes use of Palin's name it's fine?

Awesome toughness you display by crying to the moderator, too.

That's all you've been doing lately, going from thread to thread and hassling people over how they post from other blogs.

Nobody made you the thread police, and the mods have smacked you before because of it. And you need smacking again for this one.

Yes, blogpimping using Palin's name is a Holy endeavor.

Leave the criticism to others.

And who exactly are these "other" who have rushed to defend Sarah? Bush tried that approach, worked out real well for him, didn't it. Sorry, I'd like my future president to go out and defend herself.

I need to be "smacked" by the mod for asking a blogpimp
why he didn't post the content here? Really? Maybe if
the blogpimp could provide an answer to that polite
question I wouldn't ask him anymore. But he can't.

It's no big secret that you're the one who stalks the Palin threads.

"Stalks" them? Meaning what exactly?
If I am in some way detracting from any "Palin threads" it should
be a supremely easy task for you to point out where I have said anything negative about her.

I'm still waiting for my smacking.

“Stooping, yet again, to attacks against the media and opponents on the left which surveys showed most Americans didn’t believe anyway only brings her down to their level. Leave the criticism to others.”

I’m sorry, but there is no way I can say this without being confrontational: That may very well be some of the worst advice ever heard on planet Earth, ranking right up there with “put your weenie in this meat grinder and turn the handle.”

I used to own an “I Like Ike” campaign button that I was handed, new, by an Eisenhower campaign worker. I’ve seen a bunch of this crap, and it has become crystal clear over the decades that trying to remain “above the fray” and failing to call liars on their lies are always, always, always, always mistakes.

Firstly, when someone is lying about you, slamming them for that does*not*lower*you*to*their*level, nor does mentioning the obvious truism that people who lie constantly are lying scumbags.

Secondly, continuous backgroud noise consisting of the repetition of lies lends those lies false credibility that can only be wiped away by equally constant assertions of the truth. Throwing in mockery doesn’t hurt, either.
