Federal Government to Analyze ‘Disparate Impact’ of School Discipline on Minorities

Officials at the U.S. Justice Department and Education Department say closer scrutiny of school discipline cases will be a high priority for 2011. The department announced it would use a “disparate-impact analysis” to help determine whether minority students are disproportionately punished at school.

“Regrettably, students of color are receiving different and harsher disciplinary punishments than whites for the same or similar infractions, and they are disproportionately impacted by zero-tolerance policies—a fact that only serves to exacerbate already deeply entrenched disparities in many communities,” said Thomas E. Perez, assistant attorney general for civil rights.

...students of color are receiving different and harsher disciplinary punishments than whites for the same or similar infractions, and they are disproportionately impacted by zero-tolerance policies...

Seems to me that the second half of the sentence renders the truthfulness of the first half, suspect.

Yet the disproportionately higher abortion rate of black babies is no problem?

Maybe a shot of saltpeter and some valium in their FREE Gubmint breakfasts, lunches, and dinners will calm down the little thugs and thugettes.

I think you meant to say disproportionate number of black babies born out of wedlock.

Not sure what you mean...sadly they are both true. I just get so tired of hearing about injustices against people of color while they ignore the evil of what is practically genocide against blacks. Over 30% of all abortions are on black babies, where is the outrage from the black community?

Over half of minority school children are from single parent homes. They receive little or no discipline at home. When they get to school they must comply with a structure of discipline of study and work. They rebel.

Consequently they are disciplined more than non minority students. THIS IS A GOOD THING

By discipline, I mean surpervised work with goal oriented
results, supported by consequences for success or failure, consistently applied.

The Zimbabwe-ing of our school systems now begins.Obama at work. EFF HIM RIGHT DOWN TO HIS DASTARDLY TOE NAILS!!!

I think you mean feral black parents - but really - what is the difference? The parents are children too.

Here we go again. This is how the Left breaks down the schools into violent chaos. I despise the stupidity of zero tolerance but that policy came in response to the last round of leftist race baiting like this.

The schools had to have a no brain policy of discipline rules that could not be race baited in the courts because violence in the schools was totally out of control. So they came up with zero tolerance. Equal punishment for the white kid who brings a knife to cut his apple at lunch and for the black kid with a criminal record and a switch blade at school. Or equal punishment for a white kid who draws a gun in school to a black kid who brings a gun to school.

The hope was to get a better quota balance in punished children by race and to give no argument to race baiters that Black children are treated harsher than white children.

Students of color? What an insulting and derogatory thing to say. All students, including Hispanics, Whites, Blacks, and Asians, have color. Does Perez really believe that White students don't have color?
