The concept of the deficit awareness ribbon is not new. It was originally created by Rush Limbaugh as a gag when he folded a full dollar bill into a ribbon. I still have mine.

Sure. They can wear it right next to their WIN buttons. Stupid stunts are not the serious response to the fiscal crisis we’re in right now. These stunts...while intended to spur some action usually wind up serving as a substitute for real action.

So, what was the black and white ribbon worn last night by Congress-critters supposed to signify?
It couldn't have been too significant to conservatives since McCain was wearing one while sitting next to John Kerry, who also wore one.
