As if on cue from some unseen puppeteer the Middle East has erupted jeopardizing not only our own military objectives and security, but the very existence of our greatest ally in the region, Israel. It kind of makes one wonder doesn't it.
I've read nutcase theories on this.. but some plausible ones as well.

Well, remember that the various ministries in that book do the polar opposite of their names.
The ministry of plenty creates shortages to keep the people in line.
The ministry of truth spouts lies to keep the people uninformed.
The ministry of love promotes hate and division among the people.
It also promotes love for the government only.
