Egyptians want more Islam in politics, according to Pew poll

With so much speculation about what role the Muslim Brotherhood might play in any future political system in Egypt, it’s worth looking at some opinion polling data to see what they say they think about the role of Islam in politics. One recent poll says they want a bigger role for Islam in politics, they want democracy and they reject Islamist radicals such as Osama bin Laden. Respondents also showed quite high levels of support for traditional Islamic punishments such as stoning for adulterers, cutting off thieves’ hands and death for apostates from Islam.

The poll surveyed attitudes among Muslims in seven countries — Egypt, Indonesia, Jordan, Lebanon, Nigeria, Pakistan and Turkey. The questions in the survey are part of Pew’s Global Attitudes Project, which has been collecting this data since 2002. The results are based on responses from 1,000 adults questioned between April 12 and May 3 in face-to-face interviews in Arabic.

World War III will be Islam against everyone else.

It will be to the death. Either Islam wins and the rest of the world is exterminated, or Islam is exterminated.

The idea that there is such a thing as a "moderate Moslem" is a sick joke and one we have to stop telling.

In other words, they're not interested in increased freedom.

When countries get Islamic control; the women who have been “enlightened” start screaming and hollering about how they’re abused and mistreated. Then it’s too late to do much about it. We see these Egyptian women in headscarves hollering for the change that the Muslim Brotherhood wants. Do these women really know what they’re asking for?

Hmmm, so much for the “moderate, secular, highly educated, etc, etc, revolution”. Iran2, here it comes...

Inside the poll numbers, how many men, how many women, how many brotherhood members, how many afraid that to answer poll questions puts you on a government controlled list.

Just curious.

I think Obama has decided he can not get reelected. He will come out of the closet and do as much damage as he can before we give him the Bums Rush. I have no doubt now that he is a Muslim.

I wondered exactly the same thing, especially the last item you mentioned. These data were collected from "face to face" interviews, which likely includes "in public places," where there is the real possibility of being overheard. You may not want to speak your mind if the "wrong people" may be listening. And how do they know you're just an objective poller seeking statistical data, and not an agent of the Ministry of Love?

Nevertheless, I suspect that the polls are probably closer to right than wrong. Dang it.

I've heard from a number of Muslims who used to live in the Middle-East say "The words 'moderate-Muslim' have no meaning to us. You are either Muslim or you are not." Using the term 'moderate' when describing Muslims is a joke to those who practice Islam. And its use by those here in the west only demonstrates our mental weakness to acknowledge the dangers of this growing threat to the western world called, Islam!

That is the template. I do not buy it. It is about globalism and the NWO.

Yeah, leave it to these quacks to sum it all up in one big feel-good word.

Sheer democracy by itself is neither good nor bad: it's just a system for expressing the will of the people, whatever that will may be, good or evil. In a democracy with shared, sane values, or one with a Constitution that enshrines these basic human values, a democracy may go wrong, but there is a very good chance that it won't go fatally wrong. But if it lacks either sanity or a constitution, a democracy can become any monstrous thing its majority wills on the other people, and sanctified only by the fact that it is "their choice."

But I'm preaching to the choir.

To understand what is going on you must look above the static and noise promoted by our state controlled media. McLame is chairman of armed services. He is reaching out to Obama. ???Hmmm. What are Obamas butt boys in the military doing behind the scenes?? ffr
