Allen West closes CPAC promising 'new dawn in America'

Freshman Rep. Allen West (R-Fla.) gave a speech to close this year's Conservative Political Action Conference that earned a more enthusiastic reaction from conservative activists than those given by most rumored 2012 presidential hopefuls over the past three days.

The first-term congressman brought the audience to its feet several times late Saturday, repudiating President Obama's social and economic policies and promising "a new dawn in America."

West took the coveted speaking slot that was rejected by former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, who declined to attend CPAC for the fourth straight year.

West, who represents a district that voted for President Obama in 2008 and Sen. John Kerry in 2004, will be a top Democratic target next year and opened his speech by noting the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee has already run a radio ad in his district.

“What does Col. Allen West say about LTC Terrence Lakin? Has he made any statements regarding Obama’s eligibility to hold the office of POTUS?”

I don't know, but I'm sure he would never make fun of anyone’s right to ask about Obama’s eligibility, as RINOs do.

West doesn't think Obama should be President because Obama doesn't believe in America.

I won’t decide on Col. West until he answers the question about Obama’s eligibility. I will vote for no man that refuses to uphold his sworn oath to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States of America.

I too really, really like this man. I liked a number of his speeches given through the 2010 election cycle.

And I believe we will need a strong hand in 2012 to guide our nation through a world in massive flux and maybe even world war.

My caution rests with being sure we don’t swing the pendulum too hard the other way.

What I see of West so far, is a military man defending liberty in the arena of politics. It will make for a very “bloody” battle.

Palin/West 2012 - now THAT would be a dynamic TEAM for both domestic and foreign policy.

Bolton (Secy of State)

revised tagline replaces DeMint (after praising Jeb Bush) with West.

He's probably said something about this question. I just don't have it. But I'm sure he upholds the Constitution on this question.

When I met him at the Freepers Convention two years ago, I told him, I’d love to see a Palin/West ticket, but since then I’ve changed my mind. West/Palin sounds much better. Or even West/Bachmann.

Bolton? We need a proven strong leader at the helm and by the time West runs he will have spent about the same time in the senate as Obama and still be more qualified before he is sworn in as Senator than Obama. Palin would make an excellent energy sec. ANWR drill baby drill!

Well said about not caring about male or female or skin color.
It is icing on the cake we are dealing with well versed brilliant women; Palin and Bachmann and two black men. West and Cain. Even on this forum I have seen people not want a woman or ‘another’ black man in. I could care less male or female black, white, purple, green <-——LOL no one is more green than Obama.

A West/Rubio, Rubio/West ticket would be absolutely unbeatable. No one articulates more precisely, more convincingly conservative values, inspires more hope for a better tomorrow, embodies more the American Dream, or embraces more openly and comfortably American exceptionalism than these two fine representatives of the peoples voice.

Rubio was elected because of the tea party then he dissed the tea party caucus. Did I possibly hear this wrong? Will he change now that CPAC embraced the tea party?
