One difference is that on FR, most folks use screen names, not their own personal, real life names. No future employer is going to google tainan as it might “Joe Smith.” So it’s not really the same thing. What anyone says on here vs. who he is, being googled would be irrelevant to (say) being checked out by the potential employer.
The difference is FReepers, in general, know when "they" start showing up at your door, based on what you wrote here, the "awkward time" is over.
