Lara Logan, chief foreign correspondent for CBS News, was beaten and raped in Cairo during a thirty minute assault by a frenzied throng of over 200 Egyptians. According to a report in today’s New York Post, Logan’s attackers were shrieking, “Jew! Jew!,” while they assaulted her. Moreover, the day before the assault, Logan informed Esquire.com that she and her crew were harassed by Egyptian soldiers who had accused them of “being Israeli spies.” The 39 year-old Logan—who is based in Washington, where she lives with her 2-year-old daughter, and husband—is not Jewish.
The horrific fate of Ms. Logan—as a woman in misogynistic Egypt she fared worse, and was raped—reminded me of a plaintive letter published in the Egyptian newspaper Akhir Sa’a during 1948 by a “light-skinned” Egyptian Muslim man.

Was she raped or assaulted and beaten? The only thing I have seen claimed is that she was “sexually assaulted and beaten”.

Thank you for that. No where has it been confirmed that she was raped. To me there is a difference and western media knows it. A “sexual assault” implies disgusting stuff, but rape it is not.
Another thing, if true, Logan is reported to be already saying she is coming back to work. A brutal rape would be on her mind a tad longer, I believe, before she cheerfully announced she was looking forward to coming back to work.

“Sexual assault” is frequently used by the MSM as a covering and lessening euphamism for rape, when rape would be considered “inflammatory” in a community.
Rape has not been ruled in or out in this case, that I have seen. Saying it was “sexual assault” does NOT mean it was NOT rape. Dependng on the location, jurisdiction etc, “sexual assault” can mean anything from a pinch on the derriere to the most brutal gang rape.

Daily Caller had an article up earlier that said something about rape and they had to retract. CBS said she was sexually assaulted, but not raped.
