Hours after a massive earthquake rattled Japan, environmental advocates connected the natural disaster to global warming. The president of the European Economic and Social Committee, Staffan Nilsson, issued a statement calling for solidarity in tackling the global warming problem.
Some islands affected by climate change have been hit, said Nilsson. Has not the time come to demonstrate on solidarity not least solidarity in combating and adapting to climate change and global warming?
Mother Nature has again given us a sign that that is what we need to do, he added.
Global Warming enthusiasts have also taken to Twitter to raise awareness of the need to respond to the earthquake by finally acting on climate change. And the Competitive Enterprise Institutes Lee Doren compiled some of the best ones.
Some examples:
AliceTMBFan said 2 hours of geography earlier talking about Japan has left me thinking maybe global warming is way more serious then we thought
Arbiterofwords tweeted Im worried that Japan earthquake, on top of other recent natural disasters, is a sign weve passed point of no return for climate change.
MrVikas said Events like the #Japan #earthquake and #tsunami MUST keep #climate change at forefront of policy thought: http://bit.ly/cZe8To #environment
Tayyclayy noted her frustration by tweeting An earthquake with an 8.9 magnitude struck Japan.. And some say climate change isnt real?!
DanFranklin postulated Never really believed all this global warming talk, but after the earthquake in NZ and today in Japan. Maybe weve ruined the world.
And TeamIanHarding tweeted While Japan witnessed an earthquake we were talking about the problems that global warming leads to in school. Think. Pray. And change.
Do they have a point?
Global warming alarmists will exploit any natural disaster to promote their anti-fossil fuel agenda, Tom Borelli of the Free Enterprise Project told The Daily Caller, adding that the climate change reaction is a result of the global warming spin machine.
First its global warming, then its climate change, now its probably tectonic instability no doubt all caused by man, he said.
When contacted by TheDC, Dan Weiss, Director of Climate Strategy at the Center for American Progress also expressed skepticism at the link between global warming and the earthquake in Japan.
I am not a scientist, said Weiss, but I have never heard of a link between global warming and earthquakes.
Global Warming doesn't just warm the Atmosphere...
It warms the Aesthenoshere, too!
I have a better and more logical theory:
the NEW magnetic north and south - draw a line to connect them - Churchchrist New Zealand last week, Tokyo Japan this week, next in line??
LMAO!!
This is great, even though so eye-rollingly predictable.
LMAO
True, but when those nutcases accumulate political and legal power you end up with human tragedies like those caused by Caligula, Nero, Napoleon, Hitler, Stalin and many others. These AGW nuts, with the help of some nuts on the Supreme Court, have named C02 as a pollutant!
El Rushbo predicted this this morning.
bttt
THe moon will be at perigee on the 19th of this month. This happens only every 18 years or so.
It will be a full moon and appear to be 16% larger.
No, dunno if this ties inot the rise in number/strength the earthquakes of late.
Did I read this right. The article was written BEFORE the Japan Disaster began?
I take it youve all heard that the tsunami destroyed the Hall of Birth Records in Honolulu? Aftermath effects of this disaster are unknown at this time.
OMG GW/CC Fraudsters just STFU!
10 minutes after the first article on the quake was posted last night some FReepers predicted the enviros would claim global warming caused it.
What a twit.
If he wasn't so stuck on worshiping his false idols of Gaia (or maybe his god is really the Carbon Credit market) - he might actually have taken a lesson from this tragedy. Namely,
God has again given us a reminder that our lives are fragile. I.e.,
James 4:14 "Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away".
Thus seek the Rock that can't be shaken, and rest. Being fully persuaded that:
"... neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord".
But no, instead of something meaty we get some tree-hugging dribble... 'Mother Nature is upset because we aren't serious about Global Warming and aren't bowing to Climate Hysteria ... waaah'...
There was supposed to be a super solar flare that was supposed to hit S. Afrika in the past few days. Everyone was warned to wear heavy sunscreen block.
It is a fact that with a solar flare comes a magnetic flux which can cause earth quakes.
Wonder if the two are related?
Or it could just be Global Warming. That is always what make the Left feel more comfortable and willing to accept.
Global warming really exposes these people as habitual liars. Mother Nature knows how to make people look stupid.
This guy's statements go past being dumb. They are ghoulish and evil, IMO.
“I knew it would take less than 24 hours but I must say I am shocked it took them this long...”
When will they get around to saying it’s Bush’s fault?
Without the tragic human caused global warming, it would only appear to be 5% larger. We are all going to burn to death.
YEs BEFORE the quake and tsunami
This is the dateline

I wrote to a friend in the Netherlands yesterday telling him to stay away from the dikes because of the Supermoon.
They have amazing high and low tides over there. Boats sit in mud waiting for the tide to come back in.
