Kids Make An Airsoft Pistol Demonstration Video- What Could possibly Go Wrong?

Many of us grew up with firearms in the house. There was my grandfather's old 12 gauge double barrel in a closet and there were a couple of boxes of shells on the shelf above it. As young kids, we knew not to touch it without permission and not without an adult present. Kids should all learn gun safety.

A good place to begin is with parental instruction and the NRA can even help with their Eddie Eagle video that is available nowdays.

But, apparently these two well meaning kids have no idea what gun safety is or that it even applies to Airsoft pistols too.

Here, little Ethan shows Shannon how to shoot a Daisy Airstrike 240 Pistol AirSoft Gun as they were making a demonstration video. What could possibly go wrong?...

Couldn’t tell but it looks like the kid got hit in the eye, or somewhere on his face.

At least it was just a plastic little ball instead of a copper jacketed bullet. Safety, around firearms, regardless of type, should be taught at the earliest ages but it is no guarantee

I wish I had a dollar for every time I stopped someone to make sure their weapon was clear before entering our CP, only to have them drop the mag out of their M9, place it into the clearing barrel, pull the trigger and have it discharge!! The worse was the guy who walked up to the barrel, cleared his M4, which was empty, and then proceeded to start to walk inside. I stopped him asked him to clear his M203, only to find out when he pulled the tube forward, an HE ROUND fell out of the tube!!!

Heck, back in the day I had an uncle that used a BB gun to discipline his dogs and his kids, I remember he always kept it ready on the porch and would pepper the tail end of the dog when it wouldn't quit barking. He would also fire it at the kids when they were fighting or weren't paying attention, most of the time he would miss, but ting the BB off something close enough to get their attention, a couple times he didn't miss... Of course, that was back in the good ole days in rural West Virginia, now days shooting either your dog or your kid would likely land you in jail.

In addition to the “4 rules”, we have an additional “Rule 0” in our house - “Every gun is real”.

This is like the “expose” on CNBC about the Remington 700 rifle that supposedly is defective. That lady shot her kid with one.

While incredibly tragic and even if the gun was defective, what was she doing pointing the rifle at her kid?

We were always taught that a gun is a mechanical device and all mechanical devices can fail. Keep the firearm pointed in a safe direction no matter what.

I've got that same model sitting on the back porch. Possums and raccoons laugh at me.

I love that. I am going to teach that one to my teens, in addition to Jeff Cooper's 4 rules.

The problem with the Remington 700s was that the triggers had been adjusted to about 3 ounces of pull and would go off with little urging.

Operator error.

I trained my son at a very early age on a real rifle and he’s been safe as can be ever since. He loves the airsoft guns and treats them just like the real thing.

And the girl(?) in the video laughs after shooting the kid in the face? A vicious beating is too good for ‘em.

Shot my Sister between the eyes with a Red Ryder once.

I took all the careful precautions that my Dad had drilled into my head. Kept my finger off the trigger, was sure of my backstop, made sure my Sister was behind me, etc...

It took careful aim at the post holding up the laundry line, held a half-breath, squeezed the trigger, and dang it if that BB didn't ricochet directly back at me and tagged my Sister right between the eye brows above her sunglasses.

To this day my parents probably still don't believe me that I didn't shoot her dead on like a William Tell gone wrong.

With the Gods as my witness, the above is true.

But...
It also was the reason my kids kinda freaked when a friend’s boy picked up an empty airsoft rifle and pointed it at his brother... :)

The 'news' program was saying that camming the bolt home causes the firing pin to set off the primer on some 700s. I bet that was caused by a dirty bolt face and/or sear and/or firing pin. But even so: why was the muzzle covering something (her son) the woman wasn't willing to destroy. Basic. Gun. Safety. Violation.

I figured it might a reload with a poorly seated primer. The lady probably didn’t know that slam fires occasionally happen when you close the bolt. Dirty rifle? Very possible.

And just why was she pointing the rifle at her kid? That is simply crazy, moonbat crazy.

I think it goes beyond that even. The statists hate anyone having ANY valid factual knowledge of or familiarity with firearms of any sort. They want the future generations growing up in total ignorance about the uses, abuses, construction, and care of firearms. It is a lot easier to demonize something if the sheep are complete and total ignorance (like 95% of the populations of Boston and NY)
