Kids Make An Airsoft Pistol Demonstration Video- What Could possibly Go Wrong?

Many of us grew up with firearms in the house. There was my grandfather's old 12 gauge double barrel in a closet and there were a couple of boxes of shells on the shelf above it. As young kids, we knew not to touch it without permission and not without an adult present. Kids should all learn gun safety.

A good place to begin is with parental instruction and the NRA can even help with their Eddie Eagle video that is available nowdays.

But, apparently these two well meaning kids have no idea what gun safety is or that it even applies to Airsoft pistols too.

Here, little Ethan shows Shannon how to shoot a Daisy Airstrike 240 Pistol AirSoft Gun as they were making a demonstration video. What could possibly go wrong?...

At Military Police school at Ft. Gordon we had one guy not only forget to drop his mag when clearing his .45cal. 1911 into the drum, he got so scared when the pistol fired the first round, he let off a second shot!! Very embarrassing.

When growing up, almost all the boys in my neighborhood had Daisy Pal's, Red Ryder's, 880’s, or Crosman 760’s. Some 30+ years later and still none of us have an eye patch.

Once my 15yo and I were shooting our AR-15's. A round hit the steel target holder and bounched back striking him in the arm. So, much energy was expended that the bullet didn't break the skin. However, it really burned his skin.

My impression is that those kids were very “fast-grabby” “MINE!” no, MINE!” with that pistol, in other words, not treating it with any kind of respect. That kind of struck me in the lead-up to the ricochet.

I believe they were intending to shoot at a Crosman Airsoft mesh target, which is supposed to trap the pellets and keep them from escaping. It obviously doesn't work too well at close range. If they had to learn about the unintended consequences of a ricochet, at least it was only a plastic pellet.

I went through ROTC at a time when all of our cadre NCOs were Viet Nam vets struggling to impart their wisdom on a bunch of know-nothing cadets.

MSG Anderson happily imparted upon us the concept of the 3-5 second rush with the assistance of a Red-Ryder carbine. It worked, and a few years later I was absolutely honored to receive my first salute from that man :-)
