After I tried to talk to my clueless brother about the trash his 17 yr old daughter was posting on FB, she blocked me. I’ve never been able to view her posts since.

This is a girl who is sweet and polite at family gatherings. I had no way of knowing that when talking to her friends on FB, she has an obscene mouth and is obsessed with guys.

After reading her vile rants,
I’m realizing I had no clue what what was going on in her head.
There are too many parents out there who do not go on FB and are totally clueless.

If you posted threats and vile swear works on Free Republic, you’d be suspended. Not on Facebook...

So you’re asking Facebook to stop a 17yo from making an idiot of herself?

“Facebook should monitor these threats.”

I agree, and report them directly to the White House, so they can send in Obama’s proposed Civilian Army to put their boots on our necks, after they find out WHOSE ASS TO KICK.

/massive sarcasm

For anyone naive enough to believe the Federal Government is doing this "for the children," take a stroll down memory lane:

ANOTHER REASON TO HOMESCHOOL

This ping list is for the “other” articles of interest to homeschoolers about education and public school. This can occasionally be a fairly high volume list. Articles pinged to the Another Reason to Homeschool List will be given the keyword of ARTH. (If I remember. If I forget, please feel free to add it yourself)

The main Homeschool Ping List handles the homeschool-specific articles. I hold both the Homeschool Ping List and the Another Reason to Homeschool Ping list. Please freepmail me to let me know if you would like to be added to or removed from either list, or both.

This is one of those occasions where I ping the Homeschool list as well as the ARTH list.

This is so outrageous, that it needs the publicity.

I don’t see you posting threats here on Free Republic because you know you’ll be suspended. FR wouldn’t put up with any of the abusive behavior that goes on in Facebook.

Facebook should monitor these threats.

Parents should monitor their children.

When will the government install TV monitors in every room of your house? Things seem to be heading that way!

It'll be coming in the form of free internet and webcams from the gov't.

“Well the schools, teacher, principals are definitely going to be needing more money if we expect them to spy on the kids 24/7. Be prepared for some new funding mandate!”

Well, those cameras in the laptops weren’t just a boo-boo were they?

Facebook should suspend accounts, just like Free Republic does. Try threatening someone here, and that person will click on 'ABUSE.'

Facebook should suspend accounts, just like Free Republic does.

If they like, but parents should suspend access to Facebook, computers, cell phones, car, dates, friends, etc... as needed. If you're threatening people on fb, you probably need more intervention from parents than simply a suspended account.

...federal officials have reinterpreted the civil-rights laws that require...

A lot of Conservatives warned things like this would happen if the Civil Rights Act of 1964 was passed. But they were shouted down and drummed out of the "respectable conservative" movement.

Another in a hundreds long list of "I told ya so's" from those back then with even a modicum of foresight.

GADs!!! Big Brother is coming people!

It is one thing that some parents don’t know or care all that their children do.

BUT for the FED’s to INSIST that the SCHOOLS do it, that is an usurpation of the parents duty, and a total bypass of the parents authority.

This is a direct threat to parental rights that I have ever seen.

Please, homeschool those kids. Be the parent, don’t let the FED’s be the parents!!!!

Did you miss the entire point of the article? It’s about the Federal Government expanding the definition of Civil Rights, and planning to prosecute Civil Rights Violations against schools, for things their students say on Facebook, or at any other time they are off campus.

Anything they say that the White House determines as “bullying.” Anything.

Are you in favor of that?

Wake the hell up.

The article is not about Facebook monitoring itself. Did you even READ the article?

It’s about the Federal Government tyrannizing schools and threatening free speech.

You amaze me.
