Drill, BebĂȘ, Drill...

Let's see if I have this straight: America shouldn't drill for oil and gas in the Gulf of Mexico because our evil oil corporations surely will cause another accident like the BP spill and pollute all the oceans of the world; but it's no problema apparently for the obviously technologically superior Brazil to drill in the open Atlantic and sell their production to us?

At least that is what I gleaned from the encouraging words delivered by our president to Brazilian leaders in a speech to local businessmen in Brasilia last week. Discussing the partnering of our two national economies, the president said this:

The second place we want to partner with Brazil is on the issue of energy, which is why President Rousseff and I also agreed to launch a Strategic Energy Dialogue. By some estimates, the oil you recently discovered off the shores of Brazil could amount to twice reserves we have in the United States. We want to work with you. We want to help with technology and support to develop these oil reserves safely, and when you're ready to start selling, we want to be one of your best customers (emphasis added). At a time when we've been reminded how easily instability in other parts of the world can affect the price of oil, the United States could not be happier with the potential for a new, stable source of energy (emphasis added).

Admittedly, our president goes on to emphasize the need for clean energy development by both countries, but the immediate conclusion to be drawn from Obama's speech is that until such time as we get to this energy utopia, he is perfectly happy to let Brazil, not his own country and constituents, reap the wealth and job benefits associated with continued fossil fuel production.

While all Americans ought to be asking, "What the hell?" folks along the Gulf Coast should be soaking their torches and sharpening their pitchforks for a march on Washington. It is evident by now that Obama truly is a man of the world -- the Third World -- that is, and he is no more looking out for American economic interests than he's looking out for Hillary Clinton's political future.

If we should reach Obama's clean energy nirvana before all that Brazilian oil runs out, I suppose ours just stays there in the earth forever, hmm? But if their fields should be depleted before we achieve a totally unicorn-powered energy system, what then? I guess if the Democrats are in power, we can turn over all drilling rights in the Gulf of Mexico to Petrobras, which already has offices and operations in Houston. Then we can borrow billions from the Chinese to construct an ocean floor pipeline to get all that crude down to Brazil where they can load it on tankers and sell it back to us so we can keep all our ridership-challenged (that's P.C. for empty for all you out there in Rio Linda) high speed trains running on time.

Which, when you consider it, sounds like another brilliant Democrat economic program. You oilfield workers on the Gulf Coast thinking about future employment better be brushing up on your Portuguese, know what I mean?

Drill, Bebê, Drill...

This was posted to the American Thinker and I believes offers some good clues to Obama’s attitude about Americans and oil:

I was a thirty-ish, single engineer working for an American oil company in Indonesia in the early seventies. I spent a lot of time at the American Club in Jakarta as it was a safe, secure place to have a cocktail,a dinner at the club restaurant or a game of pool. I did notice a young, black boy with big ears around and in the swimming pool. He seemed to be a sort of loner. One day the club manager(knowing I was single) asked me if I would take an English teacher from the American school out for dinner. I said if he wanted to set up the date I would take it. He did and my driver and I picked up “Ann” at the American school. We drove to the Borobodur Hotel for dinner. She was dressed like a wandering hippie all in Batik, sandals and a frangipanni flower in her hair. Upon sitting at the restaurant table, she lit into me about being ashamed of myself for taking advantage of “these poor people”. On and on she went about how terrible Americans were. I could not wait to get her back to the American school where I uncerimoneously dumped her. I did not connect her to the black boy and never saw her again.

I called on many Indonesian professionals who worked for Pertamina, the Indonesian national oil company. One was Lolo Soetoro. He was openly anti-American and would often comment he would like to see all americans leave. I did not connect him to either the black boy with the big ears nor the English teacher. I came back home in 1977 and thought nothing about it until the boy with the big ears came to fore and I saw a foto of him with Lolo and “Ann”. The “date” must have taken place after even Lolo could not take any more of her and threw her out and before the boy was sent to Hawaii. And it is strange,to me,that Ann Dunham would teach at the American school and send Barack to a Muslim school. So, Mr. Lifson,I would say your appraisal is spot on.

This is the issue that will evict Obama from the White House.

Global warming is no longer scaring people, and consumers are being hit where it hurts.

I can't wait to see the commercials his opponent can produce. It can show unemployment lines, idle oil derricks, a gas pump displaying $4.00 per gallon, and Obama's own words offering to help Brazil drill for their oil, while defying court orders to open drilling for Americans. There are other issues, of course, but this one's so simple and irrefutable.

He's toast.

The dog wagging in Libya is supposed to distract us so we don’t notice.

So glad to see you mention the folks of the Gulf Coast being screwed by the oil cartel. BTW, not only are they being screwed, they are being poisoned, literaly. The ongoing oil spill is unleashing volatile organic compounds, VOCS, into the air and endangering the very lives of the Gulf residents. They are breathing benzene and other components of oil and corexit in deadly levels beyond any reasonable exposure limits. Naturally, the EPA, NOAA and the Coast Guard are not posting any warnings, and there are no postings since October 2010 of the Air Quality including VOCS (just Ozone). The MSM is silent on the matter, abetting the further destruction planned on those people.
