It all seemed so clear to progressives in the summer of 2008. A dense president born into old establishment wealth had conned the American people and we were trapped into implacable problems, both foreign and domestic. These problems included a bad war that the president had lied us into, a good war that he had ignored, a deficit that was out of control, a prison that violated human rights, and a relationship between big business and big government that had become too cozy. But there was hope. A young, charismatic, Kennedy-esque black man traversed the country with promises to abandon the bad war, win the good one, fix the deficit spending problem by taxing the rich, close the prison, and reform the government so that big business would not be able to use the taxpayers as an instrument of profit.

Just a media ploy. Turing to associate Obama with Bush to deflect criticism and gain popularity with conservatives. Liberals will vote for him regardless of what he does.

Ludicrous. Obama is nothing like Bush. Bush was one of the greatest presidents this country has ever been blessed with.
Ploy? On most issues he is in line with Bush.
There are some similarities between Bush and Obama: lying about taking the deficit seriously; lying about being committed to spending cuts; massively expanding entitlements; pro-amnesty.
I used to say that Bush was the most Democrat president in history. Then Obama came along and took that title from him. But yes, they were both stuck in the same rut when it comes to leading America astray.

Let’s not go crazy here. It was a long 8 years with him. We had to be on our toes even second while he tried and tried to pass liberal agendas and candidates right in front of our noses.....No thanks. 8 Years was more than enough. Which is why I always though a one term six year Presidency would be better. Look how many second term presidents are a mess......All of them. Even Reagan passed some questionable things during his last two years in office.

Good question. I think they actually would not care and simply were run by cognitive dissonance while Bush was president.
