The War Powers Act circumvented the Constitutions clear language and since its adoption, presidents have been emboldened to go to war without getting a specific declaration from Congress. Now Barack Obama has taken this trend to the next logical step: he didnt even bother to consult Congress, apparently believing that when a bunch of foreign dignitaries say its OK, he can send Americans off to die and kill.
Commander in Chief
Maybe this is the reason he didnt ask: Gallup pollsters say that only 47 percent of American adults approve of the current U.S. military actions against Libya.
Thats the lowest support of any military action over three decades...

Hussein got the Arab League to approve it so its ok.
Odyssey Dawn and kinetic military action—okay, now it’s a time-limited, scope-limited military action (limited military action just wouldn’t do, apparently)—it’s all so...Barry.
47% approve? This must be the MSM demographic. There is nothing about the Libyian situation that justifies the expenditure of American tax dollars or risking the lives of America’s sons.
The U.S., France, and Britain have intervened, and major foreign energy outlets - plus Western ideology - are at stake. Will the turmoil sweeping across North Africa end in regime change? Or will a power vacuum transform Libya into the Somalia of the Mediterranean? -Stratfor.com subscription
Those deals were made with Qaddafi. What makes them think those contracts will be honored by whoever ends up on top after the “revolution?”
In 2012 there will be a Kinetic Plebiscitic Action!
I thought perhaps we were going to set up a “fire towers”, so to speak..that would watch over the country and assure it as a model in the Middle east as once Libya was described by Condi Rice. Now someone decided Quddafi was no longer needed. But that is my own suspicion at this point.
The chart only raised my suspicions of motive.

UPDATE 1-US Repositioning Forces Around Libya-Pentagon
Reuters Africa ^ | Mon Feb 28, 2011 4:52pm GMT | Missy Ryan; Editing by Jackie Frank
Back in July 2010 it was reported at a Libyan trade and investment forum that “Libya had “debt levels to die for and huge amounts of oil but economically its lagging and political concerns remain. Robert Tashima, an editor for Oxford Business Group, highlighted the countrys elephantine levels of FX reserves, and the privatisation of 80 companies so far, with telecoms and steel sales slated for this year.”
“Abdulmagid El-Mansuri, chairman of the industry ministrys foreign investment advisory committee, said the country was privatising at a pace and was also allowing joint ventures with international firms, such as soon-to-be-announced joint-venture licenses for foreign banks.”

I know and I’m not thrilled with her support of this action. The whole thing is bizarre. By the time this is over the whole country will be trashed and in the hands of 7th century apes who couldn’t organize a poker game.
