For those of us who toil in the vineyards of health care finance it has long been obvious that the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP) is, for all intents and purposes, an insurance company disguised as an advocacy group.

American Association of Retired Persons (AARP) does not exist anymore.
It is now known only by the initials AARP, which can be validated at their website.
This allows them a wolf in sheeps clothing approach for liberal advocacy while exploiting mature folks who mistakingly believe it is a “retired persons” lobbying organization.
I am now in my 60s and they are a traitorous organization in my book.
Traitors got bills too.
There is always money and fair living in selling the stupid, the cowardly, the greedy to the state.
AARP, today’s Capo’s for the old.
AARP sells Medigap policies to pick up medical expenses that Medicare does not. It helps AARP’s cause if Medicare continues to raise deductibles and lessen benefits.
Most people do not realize that retirees continue to pay Medicare premiums for Parts B & D. In addition, the premiums for AARP sponsored Medigap plans are no bargain.
IIRC, elderly neighbors pay $3,600 per year for Medicare coverage and $3,600 for Medigap plan... almost all of their SS income.
I live in the WDC area. Have you ever seen the AARP building. It is a modern office palace. To top it off they do not allow AARP members into the building. I guess they don’t want the drones to see the splendor and to realize they are being taken for a ride.
I’m 77 now, AARP sent me many letters when I was nearing 55,
almost saying “you had better join or else” so I became a member at age 57.
I was not to long that it became clear they supported same sex lives, and later same sex marriages. I got out of AARP!
I’m thrown away all of their solistiting mail ever since.
I'd say pretty much the opposite of this is true. They're a leftist advocacy group selling insurance to give them cover.
ACORN with gray hair.
If people don’t realize AARP is a greedy leftist org, than they haven’t looked at the covers of their issues for the past five years like I have. A few conservatives here or there, but mostly an assortment of out and out leftists like Danny Glover. The wife subscribed to AARP supposedly to get better deals on trips and such, but I may have finally discouraged her from resubscribing with my monthly anti-AARP rants.
