So you don’t believe that cutting the growth and size of the fastest growing part of that budget deficit, at the maximum politically possible pace, is a sensible place to start. Instead you favor sticking to some abstract orthodoxy that you yourself cannot even enunciate, and hope that nothing happens so that you can continue to wallow in the miserablism that suits you so well. I think I understand your position now, thanks.

Sorry, but I think you are under the false impression that what Ryan proposes will shrink the size of government. If you look at the total scope of government at all levels, it is always growing, never shrinking. The left dominates all our institutions. They have at their disposal bureaucracies that increase in power each year. Nothing Ryan is proposing will even slow that growth.

I am quite happy in my personal life. I am not miserable. I just happen to believe what Ryan is proposing is a waste of time. You feel otherwise, and that is fine.

Good luck, babble-on... You’re arguing with a “friendly” conservative who can’t understand or appreciate the reality that a Paul Ryan faces in bravely trying to take on the Leviathan. I wish we could all have the luxury of being purists. Unfortunately, in our divided government and divided electorate, we don’t get many opportunities.

While I know Ryan’s plan will take more than a decade to make the kind of progress we would like, getting the plan and then the foundation established is requirement #1. I like having an honest broker like Ryan leading the charge for the GOP.
