Why don’t you enlight us with your addition, huh? My count is at best $100 billion out of a $1.6 trillion dollar deficit on a $3.7 Trillion budget! That should surprise me? Boehner showed he WON’T shut down the government under any circumstances - his best excuse is/will be the military, which could have been dealt with under other emergency authorization/funding measures not connected with the other eggregious expenditures he’s tacitly approved now with capitulation on this. Bullshit.

I agree with your sentiments, but this argument and/or excuse for capitulation is just a perpetual canard that can be used incessantly whenever a dispute about the budget occurs.

Sorry, I just don't think we need to posture ourselves this way, even in the face of the seemingly difficult position that places our military of now. We are talking about shackling our children and grandchildren with insurmountable debt from which there is no respite.

I believe the military payment question could have been separated by someone more interested in progressing our cause further by insisting on separate funding, emergency funding, etc. We otherwise will die (financially) by this.

“Boehner cut 78 Billion from government spending yesterday. Now, what did you do?

I paid the taxes on the other trillions of dollars they did spend. How about you, smartass?

Besides, he didn’t cut $78 billion. The cut was $38.4 billion, a mere 12 hours of federal spending. That’s right, 1 hours, or half a day, or 720 minutes. Wow! What an accomplishment! They actually cut 0.085% of the entire budget! *whew* Glad they didn’t allow THAT spending into the budget!

The debt increased $54.1 billion while congress fought over cutting $38.5 billion.

That comes out to a net loss of about $15,600,000,000.

Now Obama and his advisers are fooling people like you into thinking the Republican's cut spending!

Congresswoman Bachmann is correct: This is not the bill to pick to battle over. It's too small an amount; too little a deficit impact; too late in the game.

2012 is the bill we choose to fight, and if necessary, die on. THAT is the one to focus on. These little piddly billions of cuts is NOTHING, compared to what is possible with Ryan's budget. ...What I have been reading, I like, from that budget.

In battle, you face the enemy you see before you on that one day. You can run, but it gives your enemy comfort and renewed encouragement in the end, and for future encounters.

I don't care what Bachmann says even though I repect her immensely. You stand for principle, WHENEVER that may be, or you rationalize yourself to neverending failure. This is capitulation and excuse for not holding the line. Plain and simple.

We hold the House. The have the Whitehouse and the Senate. They proposed no spending cuts, we shamed them into suggesting 40 billion and then after we suggested 100 billion, we forced them into 78 billion. All while we only have a majority in one ohalf of the legislature and no friends in the Whitehouse.

You can spout numbers all day, but taken in the context of our weak position, they are meaningless.

You have no idea what you are talking about.

Where are you pulling that $78 billion figure from? That isn't even close.

They had already conceded 40 billion. Boehner negotiated an additional 38 billion. THat’s why Bachmann as head of the Tea Party Caucus and the feshmen are ok with this. Some are interested in tearing apart the coalititon to get the “perfect” deal. I am not. The Ryan plan is the real battle.

"Why don't you go and try and do his job....you are just another armchair expert without a clue what is taking place..."

In a heartbeat I would step in to do his job. Unlike Boehner and so many other non-representing representatives, I have a spine and I am not afraid of confrontation. I have raised enough offspring to be proficient in dealing with petulant children (i.e. leftists and RINOs).

Further, I am no "expert," whatever that means, I will admit. But I do not have to be; I'm a citizen. I reckon most of our non-representing representatives are not "experts," either, judging from past and present performance.

Finally, you do not know anything about me, so I can forgive your armchair expert comment. Perhaps you think I lack leadership or political experience. Admittedly, I have never served public office, but I retired from the Army as 11B5V and have a great deal of experience in dealing with politicians, leftists in particular. I was still in the Army during our last government "shut down" and did not notice. I served in a number of conflicts since 1988 and was in Bosnia when the government last "shut down." See, also, my tagline.

In closing, let me reiterate: pull our troops from these three conflicts and secure our home first (we are under invasion), shut down the federal government, and de-fund the unconstitutional alphabet agencies.

Last year’s budget of 2010 was $3.388 trillion. This year’s budget of 2011 is $3.83 trillion. That is an increase in $453 billion. How is that a cut?

Is this the Clinton era math whereby you want a $10/hour raise but only get a $5/hour raise but then claim you took a cut?

We are taxpayers paying the bills these so-called “experts” create. We can say and do any damned thing we want!

“The have the Whitehouse and the Senate”

Of which the Senate plays no part is appropriations bills. Seriously, go study civics. The House spends the money.

You have schooled me. Now I think we should punish the GOP and make them as weak as possible. NO fund raising, no volunteers and no votes. We shouldn’t sleep unitl we have weakened every Republican who votes for this. That will imporve our ability to influence policy in Washington.

You didn’t notice anything with your military pay because Reagan had put into place a protection against stopping military pay and clinton upheld it...it’s this mongrel who hates the military...that was stopping the military pay if his fed employees were losing their paychecks. So Beohner along with others were put into a very difficult position...that will not happen again...

Yeah! Next week! The problem is that next week, like tomorrow never comes. On second thought, maybe that was why he used that term.
