All military personnel were issued checks or vouchers dated from April 1- April 8th and told that would be the last check they received if Congress did not pass a bill to extend the budget. Most other Federal employees didn't receive these checks/vouchers, just the military.
Congressional offices were overwhelmed with calls, emails and face to face confrontations from military personnel and families pleading with the Republican Leaders to cut a deal.. So Boehner took as much as he could get and made a deal, not because thats what he or the others wanted, but he, nor our party, wanted to stop the military from receiving their pay.. That was the deciding factor.
Here is what a young family member said while serving in Afghanistan: "I am being paid from the 1-8th of this month and no more, yet I will continue to serve my country to the best of my ability. Just please don't ruin my credit!!!!"
Here he is serving in another foreign war and he has to worry about this...the left is holding our military as a hostage...
I just thank The Lord for Boehner and his ability....
Sorry, I just don't think we need to posture ourselves this way, even in the face of the seemingly difficult position that places our military of now. We are talking about shackling our children and grandchildren with insurmountable debt from which there is no respite.
I believe the military payment question could have been separated by someone more interested in progressing our cause further by insisting on separate funding, emergency funding, etc. We otherwise will die (financially) by this.
In a heartbeat I would step in to do his job. Unlike Boehner and so many other non-representing representatives, I have a spine and I am not afraid of confrontation. I have raised enough offspring to be proficient in dealing with petulant children (i.e. leftists and RINOs).
Further, I am no "expert," whatever that means, I will admit. But I do not have to be; I'm a citizen. I reckon most of our non-representing representatives are not "experts," either, judging from past and present performance.
Finally, you do not know anything about me, so I can forgive your armchair expert comment. Perhaps you think I lack leadership or political experience. Admittedly, I have never served public office, but I retired from the Army as 11B5V and have a great deal of experience in dealing with politicians, leftists in particular. I was still in the Army during our last government "shut down" and did not notice. I served in a number of conflicts since 1988 and was in Bosnia when the government last "shut down." See, also, my tagline.
In closing, let me reiterate: pull our troops from these three conflicts and secure our home first (we are under invasion), shut down the federal government, and de-fund the unconstitutional alphabet agencies.
You are correct.
There are way too many bloviating asses around here.
“you are just another armchair expert without a clue what is taking place...”
We are taxpayers paying the bills these so-called “experts” create. We can say and do any damned thing we want!
