Video: Liberal Protesters Boo the National Anthem at Pro-Union Rally

Go figure, liberals booing the national anthem...

So, let me set the scene for you: hundreds of liberals are gathered together at a rally in Wisconsin. Dozens of signs can be seen, including ones that read "Walker: Your Pink Slip is Coming" and "Palin's true color'$ (sic):"

Over the murmur of the crowd, the Star Spangled Banner can be heard, song by a woman, but only for a moment. Quickly, a chorus of boos from the progressives in attendance drown out our national anthem. This continues for almost the entirety of the rendition; finally, near the end, the boos dissipate...

However, the overall disrespect is apparent. As the old argument goes: if liberals are so displeased with this nation, why don't they just leave? If they find it necessary to boo the national anthem at a rally, why don't they try protesting in Libya or Syria? The answer is obvious: because they would not and could not. For some reason, they are booing the very country that gives them the right to boo.

Maybe the Tea Partiers and I were singing too loudly - I could have sworn they were quiet during the anthem and subsequent recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance.

I am a Liberal.

These people are neither liberal or American.

Drop the whole crowd off in Caracas or Havana and they would exhibit the same tendencies.

I know this to be fact, I was amongst them years back.

They are simply parasites surviving off of coercion and threat of imminent violence directed at those unwilling or unable to fight back. The problem they face is the reality that there is nothing left to take.

I was there too. There was definitely noise through the first part of the anthem. Then it trailed off.

Sadly, that is true. Back in the older, saner America, people who publicly booed the National Anthem risked having the living sh!t beaten out of them. In this respect and others, I am entirely in favor of reinstating traditional standards of behavior.

Thanks. I did enough hollering and loug singing that I can scarcely talk today! Of course, I followed up Saturday’s activity with 2-3 hours of singing on Sunday. (Church service, then a hymn sing in the afternoon.)

Er, make that “loud” not “loug” singing.

Chicago sports fans are pretty disrespectful during the playing of the National Anthem. It started at the Black Hawks games and has spread to the Bears.

I always hope that incident like these give some “liberals” in the crowd a pause. Maybe they start to realize they are on the wrong side.

I had a significant moment as a liberal when a very popular person in my circles made a big deal about putting Christmas, of all things, down. Very anti-Christmas, joked about it, put it down, made it cool to hate Christmas and all its trappings.

Something in my just said, “no.” I didn’t do anything dramatic. I just disagreed inside my head. Even if you are not a Christian (I was not then), why hate Christmas? A happy time when people shop for each other and surprise kids and go the extra mile to welcome and feast with each other, where you have people getting gifts for Angel Tree and special meals for the homeless and a bonus from the boss. . . it’s people sort of at their best.

No one would have noticed it at the time, but that was a major turning point in my life. I hope some of the “liberal” people there at that rally began to realize that their leadership is not going where they want to go.

There was respectful silence for the traditional singing of The Internationale.

They weren’t being respectful, they just don’t know the words. Now start singing “99 BOTTLES OF BEER ON THE WALL”, and they join right in.

It is not possible for an external control mechanism to reinstate or enforce individual standards of behavior based on some past or utopian future point..

The Romans tried, hitler and stalin proved the point of failure inevitable. Check out half of North Africa and the middle east for a real time example of this phenom.

That is what is so great about the Founders of this republic. They gave recognition to the reality of human nature.

Don’t start that crap up again.
The Anthem is CHEERED for during the singing at the United Center for the Blackhawks games. I’ve been there for it.
It’s a continuation from after 9/11/2001 when the crowd cheered the roof off for the USA.

There are always two representatives of the military during the Anthem and there is NO DISRESPECT at all.

Our "control mechanism" as such, used to come not from the State, but from a broadly-shared belief in a set of fundamental principles about the nature and rights of man and about the proper role of government in society.

Our bonds were formed from birth through linkages to voluntary forms of social organization - family, neighborhood, community, church, social group, party, charitable foundation. The Left seeks to sublimate all of these to the State, at task at which it has largely succeeded to this point, and which it is presently emboldened to advance.

I read the perceived lack of risk in booing our National Anthem as a sign that they now feel free to attack even the deepest symbols of the ancien regime in pursuit of their Utopian aims.

Disgusting worthless snot nosed spoiled leftist punks.

They enjoy more wealth and freedom than about 70-75% of the world’s population and they hate this country that much. You won’t find this much anger among the non-muslims who live in extreme and often deadly poverty in the third world.

It’s almost worth watching the nation collapse just to see these snotty punks try to survive.

I would love to see the headline after a group of lefties get beaten up for booing the National Anthem.

No way they could spin it.
