I’m going to add my two cents: does anyone else have a problem with politicians using babies as stage props?

Having family present at political events hasn’t been a problem in the past. It is a great photo op to have the whole family standing around a candidate, and if the politician is holding a child it seems normal and doesn’t garner to much attention.

But a poltician going onstage holding a baby, just the two of them, takes the attention off the politician and centers it on the baby.

“Big mistake!”, is what I thought seeing that the first time.

Never, never, never give your opposition a vulnerable family target. Politics is nasty enough, so let it be yourself, that way you can turn the attack and make political points.
