That's right. She had to be 19 to confer citizenship.

He needs to be a Natural Born Citizen to serve as President of the United States. Unless his father was an American citizen, he is not a Natural Born Citizen, he is merely a native born citizen. Not the same thing at all.

Okay then who was his father? And where did the Obama name come from?

(page 246)
And the constitution itself contains a direct recognition of the subsisting common law principle, in the section which defines the qualification of the President. “No person except a natural bom citizen, or a citizen of the United States at the time of the adoption of this constitution, shall be eligible to the office of President,” &c. The only standard which then existed, of a natural born citizen, was the rule of the common law, and no different standard has been adopted since. Suppose a person should be elected President who was native born, but of alien parents, could there be any reasonable doubt that he was eligible under the constitution? I think not.

(pg 250)
6. Upon principle, therefore, I can entertain no doubt, but that by the law of the United States, every person born within the dominions and allegiance of the United States States, whatever were the situation of his parents, is a natural born citizen.

I thought that if one is born on American soil then one is an American citizen....

But, to be President, one must be a NATURAL born citizen. A Natural Born Citizen is the child of 2 parents who are also both citizens of the US. Thus, no divided loyalties.

The other stipulation "a citizen at the time of the adoptiion of this Constitution" is no longer pertinent because there is nobody left alive who meets that criterion. That requirement was written to accomodate people who were born here before the Revolution because they were born British citizens.

There is a little fuzzy math here!!!!

If stanley Ann Dunham was born on November 29, 1942 (as every article I have EVER read says) she would not have turned 18 until november of that year. Obama was born in August. She was 17 at the time not 18. This BC is another sham!!!

She turned 18 on November 29th, 1960. Obama was born in 1961.

Yup. Too bad that she had to be 19.

“Obama’s American citizen parent, Ann Dunham, had to have been a resident of the United States for 10 years, at least five of which were over the age of 14. Dunham did not meet that requirement (of the Nationality Act of 1940, revised June, 1952) until her 19th birthday in late November of 1961, almost four months after Obama was born.”

His father was a British subject.

Sorry, but you’re plain wrong. The nationality of the father doesn’t matter; if he’s born under U.S. law in the U.S., he’s an American. “Natural” in “natural born” refers to natural law, which defines all people as having natural civil rights within their homeland. The distinctions between natural-born and native-born consist chiefly of those who resided one a country, but whose parents serve another country: diplomats, servicemen, tourists, invaders, illegal aliens, etc.

Sorry, but you are wrong. Both parents must be citizens if you want to be ‘Natural’. Go research Vattel and David Ramsey’s input. They were the authorities. You might learn something.

David Ramsey is NOT *the* authority. He was arguing for keeping slaves chattel, so what input could he possibly have on natural law? We’re not talking someone like Jefferson and Washington who were living in a society as it was; we’re talking someone who was advocating the perpetual sustainance of what was evil about that society. Let’s see whether you agree having your daughters raped whenever your master gets horny, and see if you have the same opinion of him. F*** him, and the demons who spawned him.

There have been numerous attorneys on FreeRepublic who have written the opposite opinion and cited case law to prove me right.

The citizenship of the parents is important to avoid the appearance, or the fact, of divided loyalties. Obama, himself, has claimed dual citizenship. The presidency and the vice presidency are the only offices in the land that are reserved for natural born citizens.

that’s not correct. One must be either a natural-born citizen or a citizen of the US. Being born in HI makes him the latter, assuming this document is true. One cannot be a naturalized citizen, which is why Arnie is DQ’d.

Article 2, Constitution:

No person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President; neither shall any Person be eligible to that Office who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty-five Years, and been fourteen Years a Resident within the United States.
