For that matter, my Catholic MIL. Both sides are elderly and are fixed in their ways. They both have internet access, but sit and accept the tube news verbatim. They have vested their lives in the Roosevelt myths. I know it is now impossible to change them and have come to accept that. I just cannot accept when they cancel out our votes at election. That generation is fading away, however they have unknowingly done extreme damage to the republic.

She’s a politician in that she has run for and held political office in the past and will likely do so in the future.

Here, apolitical means having a an overwhelming tendency to serve principle rather than special interest or personal gain.
