Identical Character Pairs in Obama's Birth Certificate 1) The "B" in "OBAMA" (field 1c.) matches the "B" in "OBAMA" (field 8.) 2) The first "E" in "CERTIFICATE OF LIVE BIRTH" matches the "E" in "LIVE" 3) The "D" in "Date Last Worked" (field 17b.) matches the "D" in "Date of Signature" (field 18b.). 4) The "F" in "Full" (field 8.) matches the "F" in "Father" (field 10.).
This is a fun game. Anybody can play. Just post any identical character pairs you find and I'll add them to my list. Let's see who can find a character used three or more times!

I guess not everybody is as entertained by this as I am.

Sounds interesting but the fonts still bother me. Look at a Nordyke BC and compare it to that one.
You will see the subtle differences. Still there’s no reason NOT to look into this like others have said.
Most characters exhibited wide variability in how they were digitized by the presumed scanner that was used. If there was a most commonly digitized form for a character, except as there may be for the "o"s, I didn't perceive it. There always seemed to be a certain amount of "noise" in how the pixels would appear.
A truly scientific analysis of this aspect of the document would require cataloging ALL forms of each character and sorting by the frequency of occurrence.
It should be very rare that multiple extraneous, "noisy" pixels should appear in the same locations on a character.
I'll look forward to hearing what the document experts make of this.

There are appear to be many more "o"s that match this pattern in the document. It may well be a highly likely pixelization for that character. 18) In field 6d, the two "I"s in "Is Place of Birth Inside" match. 19) The "7"s in the labels for fields "7c" and "7e" match. 20) The "7"s in the labels for fields "7d" and "7f" match. 21) In field 7d, the first "d" in "Address", and in field 7f, both "d"s in "Address", and in field 19a the "d", and in field 20 the "d", and the "d" in "Delayed" at the bottom all match. 22) The "S"s in fields 18b and 19b match. 23) The "a"s in the word "Signature" in fields 18b and 19b match. 24) In the certification statement prior to field 19a, the "d"s in child and "and" match. 24) The two "u"s in fields 18b and 19b match.
Have you noticed the Hawaiian statue in Box 23???
well this is a very interesting game to play. Here is my contribution.
The three e’s in the word “Date” match in fields 17b, 18b, 19b.
Do I get a prize for the first to notice that three letters are the same?
This is kind of scary. What are the implications of this?
Hey can I reply to myself?
and the winner is.............
wow.... the story of the matching t
here is the picture of this wascally wittle “t”
http://img593.imageshack.us/img593/3904/picture11g.png
Field 4
the second t in “Triplet”
Field 6a
the t in “City”
6d
both t’s in the word “district”
field 6e
t in “Hospital”
the second and third t in “Institution”
the t in “not”
the t in “hospital”
all three t’s in the second “institution”
the t in “street”
7a
the t in “Mother”
7d
both t’s in “Street”
7e
t in “City” and t in “Limits”
both t’s in “district”
12 a t in “Occupation”
12 b t in “Industry”
17a t in “Occupation”
17b t in “Date” and t in “Last”
to left of 18a both t’s in “that” second t in “stated”
t in “information”
18a t in “Signature” and t in “Other” and t in “Informant”
to left of 19b t in “this” t in “the”
19a second t in “Attendant”
19b t in “Date”
20 t in “Date” t in “Accepted”
21 t in “Registrar”
23 first t in “Alteration”
I guess t’s are a bitch to make
of course there are many t’s that do not match, most are different, like fingerprints, unique
hey I know I was premature on the match of three letters above but
surely this is worth a prize
bonus....
to left of 19a different shaped t’s match in “that”
6d
two i’s in judicial match first i in district
which match
13
i in Maiden 13
there are more of this “i” but I am too tired to look now
also......
17a Capital D in “During”
17b D in “Date”
18b D in “Date”
23 D in “Delay”
Please... Please tell me there is an explanation for this other than that this document was completely constructed in a photo editing program.
for my winning prize I demand a cup of t with the fellow who started this letter hunt.
cheers
I weep for my country
can some math genius calculate the odds of this happening by chance?
It's a difficult problem.
I pointed out how there are many "o"s that are identical. If all of these "o"s had identical "noisy" pixels hanging off the edges, then one might attempt to conjecture about how likely such a thing would be.
Unfortunately, this very common character pattern is highly symmetrical and represents a good approximation to the ideal character. This pattern of pixels is exactly what the designers of the typewriter would have been seeking.
The "t" that you identified is a similar example. It doesn't differ from what one would decide is the ideal "t". It will take someone with expertise in character fonts and digitizing algorithms to determine whether this pattern is the one which SHOULD show up most often.
The character which might be most significant could be the "d" which has a white pixel in the middle of its right hand edge. I don't see a good reason for virtually every "d" which has such a pixel to be identical in all its other pixels. One would need to experiment with sample type and a scanner to determine what should be expected.
Unfortunately, I will be tied up for about a week so I can't work on this. A person would need to print out text and then scan it with settings which will approximate the pixel resolution seen in the document.
