Almost half of Americans believe that Christians in the United States are being persecuted by homosexual "marriage" advocates who take legal action against them over their religious beliefs, and almost one in three Democrats believes such treatment is "necessary," according to the alarming results of a new poll.
The results are from a WND/WENZEL Poll conducted for WND by the public-opinion research and media consulting company Wenzel Strategies.
The scientific telephone survey was conducted April 19-21 and has a margin of error of 3.23 percentage points. It found that 49.2 percent of all respondents consider the legal activism against Christians and their beliefs regarding homosexuality to be "persecution."
The question was, "There is a trend developing in which gay activists are filing lawsuits against people who refuse to do business with them on moral/religious grounds such as when a New Mexico photographer was sued by a lesbian couple for refusing to photograph their wedding. Knowing this, which of the following statements most closely represents what you think about this?"

There is no doubt Christians are persecuted by the government entities that are charged in protecting their interests equally not just the interests of a politically manipulative minority.
In a related story, Democrats gnash their teeth at the brutal murder if Usama Bin Laden by US forces.
Sickening.
Homosexuality and all forms of sexual immorality are promoted by the elites precisely in order to destroy Christianity. That is Frankfurt School strategy in a nutshell.
And half of Americans support it.
This is what happens when judges, not citizens, hold all the power. The situation will not improve unless the people take back that power.
most Americans even on the right couldn’t careless because they think it doesn’;t hurt them
You want to see what I mean.
Talk about or put a post about say Tiger Woods and him having an affair and even on here will get hundreds of replies.
Put a post on here or talk at work etc and we’ll have less than a hundred replies or no conversation.
Put a post up about homosexuals getting their agenda passed and nothing, put a post up about American idol and who won and guess what hundreds of posts
Some homo activist is on record saying that Christians MUST be persecuted in order for homo activism (”gay rights”) to be successful.
A group of people could be discussing the occult or Satanism and would hardly raise an eyebrow.
Say the word "Jesus", and the room gets quiet, people fidget uncomfortably, you can hear the crickets.
nail on head
We all fall short; we are human after all. Jesus did say however that people will hate us simply for being one of His flock.
maybe and I’m not a church goer but see a post about a woman having sex making a noise and there are over 50 posts, see this post and look at it, hardly any posts
we live in a age where drama queens, homo’s cross dressers, reality TV are all the rage while important issues are, who cares so what big deal
This world hates God - aways has. Therefore the New World Order that seems to be pretty much running things in the United States and Europe is in favor of persecuting real Jews and real Christians. The nominal Jews and nominal Christians are ignored or given a pass.
Sometimes people read an article without posting. You know, if I tried to make a comment on every article, I would be exhausted.
A few points:
1. We already knew this stuff; the poll just adds numbers.
2. Posting more doesn't equal helping the situation more.
3. American Christians who know the kinds of things other Christians around the world have to endure are actually embarrassed to put the persecution label on things that, by contrast, amount to little more than bullying and harassment.
The issue is one of perspective; a man with no foot may find it unrealistic to call himself "handicapped" in a room filled with paraplegics.
Not that we need to draw a line and say, "Here's where bullying and harassment cross over into bona fide persecution"; like pornography — you know it when you see it even though a precise definition is difficult to nail down; but we do need to acknowledge that some abuses don't rise to the level of actual persecution.
IMO, we should use more applicable terms like "bullying" and "harassment"; terms that the Left regularly uses to characterize behavior they want to vilify, and stamp out; and hold weightier terms like "persecution" in reserve.
Luckily I do believe we are still marginally in the harassment stages here, unlike in Canada where there truly is persecution. But give it time. We must continue to speak up and act to preserve freedom of conscience, and reclaim the rights of free speech and freedom of association.
Manc, give it time, the day is young (as is this thread) and everybody’s still at work waiting to go home and get their Freep on! ;)
At least, I find it hard to believe that we will not be tested harshly, chaff from wheat, as has happened throughout history.
almost one in three Democrats believes such treatment is "necessary,"Since we can't read minds, the other more than two will have to go as well.
Persecution is a relative term.
Agreed. The definition is pretty general for it: “hostility and unfair treatment toward someone, especially for their religious beliefs, political beliefs, or their race” (Oxford American Dictionary, 2008)
However, I do feel that Christianity now fits within the given definition. I agree with you that it’s certainly not in the extreme state yet, it could get way worse, but we’re certainly on a graduated process: a process that intensifies with progressing time increments.
As for the testing and separation or “chaff from wheat” that’s already happening as amongst those who profess to believe, there lies the choice of continuing to profess your orthodox beliefs, or leaving them behind for what is supposedly a worthwhile “exception”. The separation happens right now while the mainline religions generally keep to their original tradition of treating marriage as between a man and a woman, or accepting alterations to that for the sake of political correctness, among other issues.
I agree very much with the final statement.
