NASA-Funded Group Caught Doctoring Global Warming Data

No surprise here. Another day, another study that was intentionally doctored to make so-called "global warming," now called "global climate change," more alarming.

This time they were caught. A NASA-funded group at the University of Colorado discovered that sea levels were not rising nearly as much as expected. Their solution: just arbitrarily make the number higher.

Unfortunately for the University of Colorado Sea Level Research Group, global sea rates rose a mere .83 inches for the last decade. That's .083 inches a year, or the width of two and a half pieces of hair. These scientists decided that wasn't nearly enough, so they decided to add over 10% of "growth" to their data.

The group's excuse: they need to "compensate" for a rising land mass. That's right, not only are sea levels rising slowly, but our land is rising as well.

I was wondering why my ears keep popping.

The group's excuse: they need to "compensate" for a rising land mass.

NASA scientist backing climate-change lawsuit against White House? [excerpt] By failing to take action against, the federal government has violated its legal obligation to protect the atmosphere as a resource that belongs to everyone, according to a lawsuit filed in federal court last week.

Five of the plaintiffs are teenagers, who have a “profound interest in ensuring our climate remains stable enough to ensure their right to a livable future,” according to the suit filed May 4, which names a number of federal officials — from Lisa Jackson, head of the Environmental Protection Agency, to Robert Gates of the Defense Department — as defendants.

The suit cites climate calculations, and is supported by NASA climate scientist James Hansen, who has a history of speaking out forcefully on the hazards of human-caused global warming. Hansen told LiveScience he had been interested in going to court over the topic in recent years. [end excerpt]

Actually, the average human hair is about .003 inches in diameter, so .083 would be about 28 human hairs, give or take.
Perhaps they meant to say .0083.

Just saying.

It’s actually pretty simple, you see. All mass expands with increasing temperature. The global temperature has been so extreme that even dirt is getting larger. I’m sure that this group will be glad to explain that this is the reason why it now takes longer to fly from LA to NYC. /s/

The Earth is not like a golf ball. The Earth is more like a water balloon. Press in on one point, it expands at some other point. The balloon has it’s own gravity, which keeps it more or less round.

So, if you add water to the seas, it makes sense that the land would rise. Not to say that this is what is happening here, of course. To blame this on Global Climate Instability (formerly Global Climage Change (formerly Global Warming (formerly “The Weather”))) is not supported by the data.

So, the earth is sweling up like a big zit?

These researchers should be prosecuted for fraud and the University made to pay back the taxpayer's money that was used to fund this fraud. One would think that the academic community would be incensed by this unethical and academically dishonest research. However I recall that many academics at the University of Colorado defended discredited professor Ward Churchill whose academic work was found to be plagiarism.

The rise in land is a result of isostatic rebound, and in the higher latitudes in the northern hemisphere, is a factor that warrants consideration.
