Joseph Farah says he may sue Esquire for ‘parody’ story on Jerome Corsi book

An article on Esquire magazine’s website, claiming that the publisher of Jerome Corsi’s new book about President Obama’s birth certificate is pulling it from bookstores, may have been written as a parody, but not everyone is laughing.

The Esquire story, written by Mark Warren, spread across the Internet moments after being posted on the magazine’s website Wednesday morning. Esquire has said it was a joke and Warren told TheDC he has no regrets about posting it.

“He is an execrable piece of ****,” Warren said of Corsi.

“Capricorn One: NASA, JFK, and the Great “Moon Landing” Cover-Up”

I knew it was satire as soon as I read that.

What’s your point? You asked for an example of WND printing false material and ending up in legal trouble for it. I provided an example.

And they were sued by and paid a monetary settlement to the man they repeatedly defamed; it wasn’t just an editorial apology.

The people are WND aren’t conservatives, and they aren’t journalists. They’re opportunists.

paul revere is riding said: "I am starting to think Trump was in on the whole deal about Obama releasing another fake BC"

Perhaps time will tell. Trump made claims that there were other things yet to come out. Trump has resources enough that he wouldn't have to accept a forged document as a birth certificate.

Trump's sudden dropping of his candidacy seems only consistent with the idea that it was only used to compel Obama to release the document. Or that it was used as a clever means of making it appear that Obama was compelled by Trump.

Somehow it seems like this story is far from over.

Anyone reading the piece would know it is satire when it mentions that Corsi wrote a book claiming that the moon landing was a hoax.

Oh, like most readers would know with certainty the totality of Corsi’s publications.

“Oh, like most readers would know with certainty the totality of Corsi’s publications.”

You make a good point.

When readers discover the Corsi believes that the WTC Towers were not destroyed by the 9/11 Terrorist Attack, they should likely question all his other theories.

Obvious satire, you’re right. But the average American reads on a 7th grade level I hear, and I’m willing to bet that you’re going to hear from a few of them.

The Esquire piece looked perfectly legitimate, even upon multiple re-readings after the “it’s satire” disclaimer was added.

You have to be kidding me? You read the following several times, and it didn't scream satire to you?

Corsi's earlier best-selling work, Unfit for Command: Swift Boat Veterans Speak out Against John Kerry and Capricorn One: NASA, JFK, and the Great "Moon Landing" Cover-Up

Hey, if someone I am largely unfamiliar with is writing a book about a conspiracy theory, it does not surprise me if a book about a conspiracy theory appears on his alleged portfolio which I am largely unfamiliar with (but which I do recognize the other work listed as a real book).

Heck, _I_ could write a convincing book about the “moon landing coverup”. (Didn’t say I _believed_ the conspiracy theory, but I could write a darn good book about it.)

The title, as presented, does not claim he believed the hoax, just that he addressed the hoax. Would make for good reading, actually.

That’s just cultural literacy. Capricorn One references a seminal 1978 movie about a faked Mars mission and subsequent cover up. It became fodder for not only other fictional imitations but whack jobs everywhere.

The author of this article isn’t responsible for his readers understanding of his pop-culture references. It’s sufficient that he made them.

I know what Capricorn One referred to. A book about the theory need not necessarily advocate the theory.

Remember the recall of one of the Beatle’s Albums ? ( Yesterday and Today Album ) today ? the original that was put out before the recall is a collector’s item worth a lot of money.
