I am sure that there is forgiveness for Brother Camping"
Uh, I doubt it, if he truly said the above. We are saved by our faith. Kooky idea don't cut it.

Dang, and I was all packed... I guess I’ll have to buy my house back.
OH NOES!
The illustrations (such as the one above) for the booklet were done by Basil Wolverton who also did cartoons for "MAD Magazine":
Damn! And I was all packed too.
Wouldn’t this be close to, if not the same as, the “seeming man” theory called docetism? This is one of the tenets of mainstream Christendom: that Jesus Christ is accepted to have come into the world as a genuine man (without ceasing to be genuinely God) who died a genuine death upon a cross as narrated in all four biblical gospels. This death was needed to work a salvific atonement. One might point out that it was “more” than an ordinary death but it certainly was not less.
Well, how eclectic of Camping: "Jesus did not die on Calvary, but that was merely a "manifestation" -- is similar to Muslim teaching...as some say the "manifestation" was a disciple "substitute" in Jesus' place...
No "hell" as the Bible clearly describes...well, that's the cults of Mormonism and Seventh-day Adventism...
As for date-setting, well that belong to the cults of Seventh-day Adventism (Ellen White in the 19th century) and the Jehovah's Witnesses (several dates given by the Witnesses thru the years...)
As for "Satan is in charge of all the churches except his" -- well, that's a host of cults, including Mormonism--specifically the Book of Mormon. In 1 Nephi 14:9-10, the BoM says there's only TWO churches...Satan's and the Lamb of God. (And guess who the Mormon church says is the church of the Lamb of God? That's right...ONLY the Mormon church...which in Doctrines & Covenant 1:30 claims to be the "only true and living church on the face of the earth."
So, just call Camping a Mormo-Muz-Adventist-Witness!
You may say to yourselves, How can we know when a message has not been spoken by the LORD? If what a prophet proclaims in the name of the LORD does not take place or come true, that is a message the LORD has not spoken. That prophet has spoken presumptuously, so do not be alarmed. Deut.18:21-22
Wait, I am a little confused by the article. Camping didn’t cancel the rapture did he? We’re still on for May 21st?
Darn...I went for that full living room of furniture with no payments until May 22, 2011. I’m screwed.

I used to read Garner Ted’s magazine in the 70’s. Plain Truth?
It was free.
My wife and I were on a road trip this past weekend, and we noted SEVERAL billboard signs advertising “The Rapture” coming on 5.21.
I’m don’t consider myself a ‘practicing’ religious person, but I hope it happens. That would be so cool to see during our lifetimes!
Well, many interpreters of things Bible suggest that if you weren’t a “practicing religious person” before seeing the rapture, you probably will be (if you believe, that will always make a difference in what you would otherwise do) once you do see it. That is, if you don’t just plain die first which anybody could do at any moment, and to put it mildly there don’t seem to be a lot of hints for a second chance following that event.
I hate Apocalypse interruptus.
Jesus Christ is the Son of God, born a man through a virgin birth, and crucified for our salvation. His resurrection becomes our own renewal in a life in Heaven with Him after we are gone from this sinful world. Thus, He is the promise God made to Israel, that one will come who justifies us in God’s eyes.
Anything short of a firm belief in His death and resurrection belittles His purpose on earth, and falls short of salvation.
I’d agree it falls short of an adequate description of how salvation was worked. I don’t want to go out on a limb to the point of saying that individuals can’t put an efficacious personal salvation trust in Jesus Christ while not quite understanding how Jesus Christ worked it. But it certainly is unseemly for a whole church, like Camping’s, to be in such ignorance.
it would seem if you don’t know heresy, you are doomed to repeat it...
