I presume you’re referring to Camping. I don’t know what his agenda is, especially since he’s been proven wrong in the past. That’s all anyone needs to know about him. Unfortunately, there are many out there who look for anything that might give them hope, without the means or knowledge to evaluate it properly. Those are the people the Campings of this world feed on.

No, I’m saying that about the assertion that “believing [laundry list]” is a prerequisite or even an immediate ensured consequence of “trusting in the person Jesus Christ for salvation.” Where [laundry list] varies by denomination.

The gospel accounts show us a group of disciples who, if they could get almost anything wrong on their walk with Jesus, did just that. Over and over. Yet Jesus mildly scolds them and enlightens them a bit more. Over and over. “Laundry list” theologies, as helpful as they might be for correction and edification, are parlous litmus tests for faith. Camping ought not to be preaching an illusory crucifixion, but that says not a lot about whether the Lord accepted his faith.
