Health Alkaline ^ | 5/19/2011 | Kimberly Lord Stewart

Your body is in a constant battle to maintain its delicate acid alkaline balance. Over acidity can cause a host of diseases and other problems to manifest in the body. This makes a healthy alkaline food diet all the more important for the sick, to adhere to a 20/80 rule acid/alkaline diet. Those suffering from fibromyalgia need to pay close attention to their acid/alkaline balance.

St. Martins Press – Your favorite snack or dessert could trigger symptoms of fibromyalgia. Tender pain, fatigue, trouble with memory and digestive problems are just a few of the problems experienced by women with fibromyalgia. But emerging research shows that diet can play a role in stopping the pain. Try these 7 easy steps and see if your symptoms improve…

Not even medical experts can figure out fibromyalgia. The symptoms of fibromyalgia are tough to pinpoint, doctors don’t know what causes it or why and patients typically see nearly a dozen physicians before getting a definitive diagnosis.

But physicians agree that stress, an unhealthy lifestyle and a bad acidic diet can aggravate symptoms of fibromyalgia.

While healthy alkaline foods and diet can quiet flare-ups of fibromyalgia and make you feel better.

“The most powerful tools fibromyalgia patients have are their forks, because foods become cells,” says Deidra Rawlings, N.D., a naturopath and author of Foods that Help Win the Battle Against Fibromyalgia.

From what my Dr has told me there is no test for FM. It is a process of what it is not nd if they can’t find anythign wrong with you it is called FM. She said that they used to call them hypochondriacs but now that everyone sues so they medicate them now and try to manage their every expanding complants. She also told me that if they really had to dal with diease like her patients do they would not know what to do. She specializes in treatment of type 1 diabetes. I don’t know but this is what she said and considering that 98% of those with FM also report childhood abuse....it does make you wonder.

I know quite a few women in our area who have been diagnosed with the same thing. None of them are on the number of meds she is. My sister may or may not have fibromyalgia. My point is that I believe she is addicted to the pain meds and she is also able to "use" it for sympathy and attention.

Example: A bunch of us were invited to her house for dinner. She was supposedly in so much pain that my mom had to cook the entire meal and bring it to her house. Mom played hostess and waited on everyone hand and foot because my sister was in way too much pain. She sat in a chair and "flinched" every time she moved. Oh the sympathy she got. However, a few hours later, her husband came home with a brand new dirt bike. Suddenly she was pain-free and well enough to ride it all over the place...

Believe me - I don’t discount fibromyalgia. One of my friends has flare-ups so painful that she can barely wear clothes. It’s heartbreaking to watch.

My doctor put me on that for a few months but could not take it. Can not remember why. I am very odd about meds and how I react to it. For instance, I can not take some pain pills. They give me severe headaches. I can not take anything with ibuprofen for the same reason. I am really under a whole lot of stress right now and my body is reacting to it. Told a friend that I needed to get away from everything for a few weeks but knowing me, I would just take the stress with me. : (

I have had fibro for many years and believe me, there was never any child abuse in my case. Some so called doctors should never be anywhere near patients. I know that for a fact. Hubby died because the stupid oncologist said he did not have anything related to cancer. Yeah, very funny since he died 3 months later from liver cancer. We should have sued that nut. How many other families went through what we did because of his stupidity. Even my family dr said we should have. Daughter died 2 years before him because the drs would not listen to her and us. We are fed up with doctors who should never be allowed anywhere near patients. Don’t get me started. When any of us have any unusual symptoms, I start doing research.

My Dr is very good and I am a 40 year type 1 diabetic. She knows what she is talking about and is a specialist. I trust her with my life literally.

I have it. I hate it. I refuse to let it stop me.

It just means I have to get creative sometimes, because it does hurt. At it’s worst it can feel like I’m being beaten by a gang armed with crowbars. But other days it’s mild enough that I can almost forget that it’s there.

Thanks for the tips. She suffers terribly with FM. I have told her about probiotics before but not sure if she ever really gave them a shot.

Yeah, we trusted this dumbo dr with the life of my husband, too. That trust killed him. By, the time we said enough is enough and went to another dr, it was too late. We went 3 months before he died. Trust can be a good thing but in some cases it is displaced. We discovered that just because someone is a specialist does not mean that person knows it all. When the new dr saw him, he ordered a simple ct scan. It showed a tumor 6x6x6 in his liver. That did not get there overnight. When he met with my husband, daughter and I he said my husband had 6 months to live at the most. He died 3 months later. We all try not to say, “what if” because we know God is in control and He knows what He is doing. It is kinda hard right now because I have 2 great granddaughters who would love their great grandpa. So many people loved him that I am sure they will learn all about him and especially his business honesty.
