With Republicans like these, who needs Republicans?

It's no wonder we're so screwed.

Barack Obama has decided that he is the king of the United States and Republicans are in meek compliance. Obama unilaterally took us to war in Libya on a false premise. Libya was never an imminent threat. Obama invoked the War Powers Act in defense of his actions but now that the 60 days has passed Obama simply declared that he will simply not abide by the law.

In an effort to satisfy those arguing he needs to seek congressional authorization to continue US military activity in accordance with the War Powers Resolution, President Obama wrote a letter to congressional leaders this afternoon suggesting that the role is now so “limited” he does not need to seek congressional approval.

“Since April 4,” the president wrote, “U.S. participation has consisted of: (1) non-kinetic support to the NATO-led operation, including intelligence, logistical support, and search and rescue assistance; (2) aircraft that have assisted in the suppression and destruction of air defenses in support of the no-fly zone; and (3) since April 23, precision strikes by unmanned aerial vehicles against a limited set of clearly defined targets in support of the NATO-led coalition's efforts.”

Never mind that Obama has lied about virtually every aspect of the Libyan involvement right from the start, which is why you're an idiot to believe anything Barack Obama says.

There was a time when democrats thought this was a bad thing:

Hillary Clinton: “If the administration believes that any, any use of force against Iran is necessary, the president must come to Congress to seek that authority.”

Joe Biden:“I want to make it clear. And I made it clear to the President that if he takes this nation to war with Iran without Congressional approval. I will make it my business to impeach him. That’s a fact. That is a fact.”

And the Republicans?

Lindsey Graham whined recently about Fox News hindering Graham's efforts at amnesty.

“In today’s world, it’s very hard for bi-partisan agreements to be formed,” said Graham, “because those who don’t like what you’re trying to do are able to generate a lot of pushback early on, so this 24 hour news cycle makes it very, very difficult, but not impossible.

“Let’s talk about immigration. When Fox News is saying ‘amnesty’ 24 hours a day, it makes it harder for me to get people on my side,” he added. “When the left, through MSNBC, talks about the tax cuts being a sell-out and going back to Bush policies, it makes harder for our Democratic colleagues.

Graham is a RINO. He is a closet democrat who is stupid enough to support the Schumer amnesty program, and here's where Graham amply demonstrates just how much of a fool he is:

P.S. The only Senator calling on the “Impeachment” word is a Democrat, Kucinich.

And that is doubly impressive, because Kucinich isn’t even a Senator. He’s a congressman.

Screw the phony War Powers Act. If the GOP wants 0bama to answer, immediately cut off all funding for our war in Libya.

Oh wait, the GOP never cuts anything, ever.

I wish the GOP would grow up and start playing hardball. It will never succeed in verbally persuading 0bama to justify our new war in Libya by playing "mother may I." Cut all funding for this war. Now. That will get things done. And I am sure there are more than a few Democrats in the Senate that would be on board with this idea.

...aircraft that have assisted in the suppression and destruction of air defenses in support of the no-fly zone...

So is that 'non-kinetic' suppression and destruction, or 'kinetic' suppression and destruction?

The Tea Party and Conservatives were on fire in the last election. Beating the Rats to the ground and ridding us of Pelosi and Co. The GOP leadership has done everything in their power to put the fire out and lose in 2012. They are simply Not Worthy.

great post!
the UN authorized a no fly zone, to protect civilians. not killing grandchildren, and sinking the Libyan navy. Nato has arguably killed more civilians than Quaddafi!

...and the worst Republican of all, is McCain!!!

“No president has ever recognized the constitutionality of the War Powers Act and neither do I,” McCain said.

Whether or not Congressmen and Senators (read “McCain”) believe the War Powers Act is constitutional, it is the law of the land until it is either repealed or declared unconstitutional by the Supreme Court, and both Congress and the president must obey it. For that matter, so must the military.

The excursion in Libya was a clear violation of the Act, and Obama should be impeached for it. Whether or not our current involvement is so limited as to fall outside the scope of the War Powers Act, it was not so in the beginning, and was a violation of the Act. A most, failing to get congressional approval within 60 days is a second violation of the Act. The first violation occurred when he committed our armed forces against Libya.

The president and Congress do not get to decide which laws to obey just because they have the personal opinion that the law is unconstitutional (read “McCain”). The military commanders should have refused to obey Obama’s orders to attack Libya because it clearly violated the War Powers Act, and was, therefore, an illegal order.

Now, whether or not the War Powers Act conforms to the Constitution is not for Congress, the president, or the military to decide. It is for the Supreme Court to decide. Whether or not it is a good law, or a good idea IS for Congress to decide, and then the president to sign or veto. But until that is done, it is the law and should be obeyed.

Obviously there are laws which should never be obeyed (e.g., rounding up innocent civilians and putting them in concentration camps), but the War Powers Act is no such law. Whether or not it’s a constitutional law, or a good law, or even a good idea, it is not immoral, and must be obeyed.

Resident Obama sent a letter to Congress. In it he said: “Kiss my ass I am going to Ireland for a beer.”

Congress met and said: “Well that settles that.”
“have a nice trip”.

The corrupt "Two-Party Cartel" is basically run by the same elites. Be prepared for for a standard of living of a totalitarian communist country.

No! Not only no, but H**L no!.

The oath taken by the president, and by all members of Congress, and by all members of the military is to the Constitution, not to the lesser laws that might be passed. And the most important words in the Constitution are We, the People,, now "We the lawyers and judges" or "We, the Justices of the Supreme Court." Each and every citizen of the US, including those holding some sort of federal authority, is responsible to obey the Constitution.

If Congress passes, and the Supreme Court "blesses", a blatantly unConstitutional law, then the Administration (including the president and the military) are oath-bound not to obey it.

If the president does refuse to abide by a law passed by Congress, then he faces the test of impeachment and trial for his action. So be it. Then, if the members of Congress vote the wrong way on his trial - as "We, the People" would say is right or wrong - then they face re-election.

In the event of honest dispute, then the military is bound to obey the orders of the commander-in-chief until he is removed from office - but even that does not allow them to betray their oath to the Consitution itself.
